I have a 04' GT, and whenever I run over a puddle or a pile of snow/slush it sounds like my muffler is going, but the sound comes from the front of the car. It only seems to happen when the left side of the car runs over the puddles too. It goes away after 30 seconds or so. Does anyone else have this problem?

sounds like your sucking up a bit of water into the intake?
does the car sputter a bit when that happens?

yep the intake for the most part is on the left. But with the factory ram air intake that should not happen

I don't get any sputtering that I am aware of. I will have to punch it next time it happens to see what it does.

My car does have the Ram Air.

Hmmm. Well, assuming you are not a lunatic :) , that is rather strange. I can't think of anything off hand that would cause that if the intake is not the cause. Is it a grinding sound, or does the enigine itself sound louder? Any power loss? If you have lights on do your eletronic instruments fade? You haven't done anything to your exhaust have you that would have caused a hole where crap could get in and clog it up?

I didn't do any mods to the car so that part should be OK. It does sound more like the engine gets louder then a rattle. No fading of lights that I know of, but it has only happened during the day so I can't not be sure about it. Maybe I will have to get the car up on a lift of something and have them check for any holes or anything. I don't think I have ever ran over anything that would cause it, but you never know with the condition of Ohio roads.

Hmm I may have figured out what this is, and if so it is not a problem. This is only a theory, but I drove my Grand Am GT for the first time the other day with 4 other adults in it. The computer is supposedly able to sense when the car has more weight in it and requires more get up and go, so it runs a richer mixture. My engine was quite noticeably louder with all the people in it.(They are squishy in the cyllinders):chainsaw:
It may be that when you hit a deep puddle, the drag causes the engine to think the car is heavier and it bumps up the fuel mixture a bit.

But then I would think that it would happen when I ran over a puddle on either side of the car, this only seems to happen when I run over slush or a puddle on the left side.

Still, a good idea. I did not know that about the Grand Am's.
