Guys-- I'm looking for information on disassembly of the grand am turbo as I want to ship the turbine housing off to have it ceramic coated and I need to clock (rotate) the compressor housing to have the compressor outlet point a different direction. The turbine housing may be simple, I haven't really looked at it but I believe it's just like 4 bolts...

The compressor housing uses a massive snap-ring. Do I just remove this snap ring with massive snap ring pliers and pull it apart? Will I damage any sort of seal or gasket? This may be really simple but I've never done it before and don't want to damage anything.

The turbo is brand new and I'm getting ready to use it on a 1986 Toyota MR2. I know alot of you guys may not like imports but I come here with no ego at all.. we can leave that for the track. I just need some information that I'm hoping you might have...

Project info and pics are at http://www.jerryjoy.net/mr2/MR2.htm. It's a little out of date as I've recently installed a full standalone ECU ala MegaSquirt-n-spark-extra and a shift kit but it's otherwise pretty complete. I'll be updating it soon too.

Thanks in advance for your expertise!

I took one apart last summer and other then the big snap ring which was a pain to remove and get back in afterwards it was pretty simple... I had to change the housing off my old turbo and put it onto the new turbo

So by removing the snap ring to rotate the compressor housing there is no gasket/seal I need to worry about damaging?

If all you need to do is rotate the housing, just rotate it. May have to put the exhaust side in a vise but it should rotate with moderate force, no need to disassemble.
