^ can you give me a persuasive arguement with my mom to let me get one? my neighbor (car/pontiac enthusiast) clued her in on what a CAI does. i was golden until that point. now she wont even let me get exhaust. although my dad says when i get rims he'll just get them for me and we wont tell my mom. we'll see if that actually happens

^ haha. sorry. a week ago it rained and got up to 50. and it rained for two days (correct me if im wrong Mich people) and then the temp dropped and froze which cancelled school twice within the last week. Then it snowed and that is why we lost our 6 inches. this has been a terrible winter so far! no snow! this picture was posted on a decently warm day. mid-20's because my water bottle used for tinting was froze :(

Yeah the tint looks good. I like the forth shot also.
First one wouldn't be bad but some kid got in the way and blocked the car. LOL

umm, ouch? ;) no. i meant to take another one without me, but the manager on duty at Warwick pulled in with his bright yellow car and he stopped and gave me a run down of what i was doing there, so i had to explain to him that i was trying to get pictures and such. but then i had to leave because to get the first picture with me in it i had to block an intersection. im going to try to get another picture this summer or again this winter if it snows more. id really like to get one when the buick open is going on, but that might be tough.

yep. i tinted the back window. heat shrunk it and got her done about a week and a half ago. thanks for the compliment!

What exactly did he say it does? There could only be one reason for not getting it and that would because of water getting into the filter. For convincing your mom...
1. better fuel economy
2. colder/denser air coming into the engine
3. less restriction to air coming into the engine
4. more hp (probably won't win you points in your moms books :))
5. awesome sound
I would just suggest the first 3 and use that. :D Say it's better for the engine, lol.
I had a mechanic tell me that it's not good to have a CAI either, but there's nothing wrong with it unless you plan on driving it in a lake. ;)
I haven't had any problems with water, and since yours is a '97 it will have the same setup as mine. There is a plastic shield that totally covers the filter in the fender so you will never really have to worry about water getting in there. For the winter I have removed the pipe going into the fender and just put the filter up in the engine bay, so that I don't get salt and stuff in there.
You will love it, just do it... :D

And on top of that...tell her the price of it (~$200) and then tell her that you can make your own for half the price! Mom's always love when they see their kids being thrifty. It's almost a guaranteed OK!!! then you go out and buy the $200 one!!!
