Ok here is a dumb question. Once I get everything changed and all the new gaskets on the car, besides changing the oil, how can I get rid of the water in the block that is in the oil passages. Any help her would be great. Thanks.

Since your doing this work yourself, and the engine isn't leaving the bay, the best thing to do is buy about 9 litres (about 2.5 gallons) of your favourite oil, and 2 filters.

Do a change after all the work is done, and about 7 days from that change, do it again. If you feel so inclined, and want to get everything you can out, then drop the oil pan and drain whatever's left in it, and install a new oil pan gasket.

I'm thinking a air compressure would blow it out and dry it at the same time.

Jason, I like to read your idea's, but I'm at a loss how is your answer going to help. Granted changing the oil right away after a rebuild is good, but how is that getting the water out. I Don't Dought you, I'm wondering???

My idea is based on the assumption (arrived at from his post) that the engine has been re-assembled. If this is the case, then blowing air through it won't work - it would work if the heads were still off, but if that were the case, then running Varsol through the oil journals before re-assembly would be the way to go - that would clean the journals of everything, not just water.

Mind you, I would still be changing the oil within a week or at most two of having flushed the block out, to be sure that any remaining contaminants were suspended in the oil, ready to be drained.

I knew I missed some thing. I thought the motor was still a part.
Thanks for responding.

I think there is a misunderstanding. I am only replacing the uppers and lower intake gaskets. One thing though is, It looks like I need to replace my cam. All the journals when I looked down through the Lifter holes, were nice an shiny and new looking except 2 of them. 2 of them are pretty pitted and I would like to replace it, but i have no idea how to do this with the engine in the car....I thought maybe trying to lower the engine enough to pull it out the wheel well, but I don't think it will go that low. I plus removing the balancer and all will be a chore also. If you have any ideas, please let me know. mark

I've never sen your motor sitting in a car, so I'm not much help.
