I need some cheap suggestions to get a nice exhaust on my 04 se grand am. I have the 3.4 engine and I'm looking to get a nice sound out of it, but I hate the giant muffler on there. So if anyone has any good suggestions I'm all ears.

Get a Flowmaster muffler... should run you less than/around $100

I'm not sure which series you'd want, but it will just be a replacement muffler and you'd keep the same tips (or else you could buy some Borla tips or somethin...).

I have a 40 series flowmaster and they are pretty much the signature sound of what a performance muffler should sound like. I had a catback 2.5" system custom made with chrome tip for like $240.

Well, depending on your definition of cheap, you have a few alternatives. A lot of folks are using the 2 1/2" mandrel bent SLP pipes, adding a Flowmaster 80 or Magnaflow muffler, then adding custom bent tips. This would run around $250, as someone else pointed out, you could probably get a acustom bent exhaust for this price as well. As far as complete kits go, SLP is about $475 shipped, Borla is about $590. SLP makes more power with a bit more noise, Borla is staimless and has a lifetime warranty. The Borla system is 2 1/4", the tips are nicer and as said, it is prety mellow. If you go that route, don't pay any attention to the "GT 2 door" only warning, the system will fit a 2 door or 4 door. I personally am running the SLP piping, with a Flowmaster 80 and the SLP ends, with a pair of resonator tips from Wally world (Pilot I believe). Sounds awsome, not too loud, but with a nice growl when I get on it. mopowr79

I went with a borla Pro XS muffler. Full SS 2.5" Mandrel bent. I love the sound of the borla muffler and its so deep and powerful sounding yet not loud. Actually, similiar to my sound system, it isnt loud until you get indoors where it penetrates better and sounds even louder than being outside with it. Id recommend my setup to anyone.

Hey Neo, how much did your full system cost? Install, muffler, tips, the whole bang. I've been looking into a similar setup and am just wondering how much I will be looking to spend.
