Hello everyone,

So glad we found this website! We just recently purchased a 1999 Grand Am that had a few issues and by reading all your posts were able to get them fixed - including that annoying blinker clicking (cleaning the contacts in the multifunction switch worked great!)

As the title of the post says - is there anyway to look up the codes that were listed on the service identification tag by the VIN#? Unfortunately it appears our car had/has a water leak in the trunk and half of the spare tire cover is rotted away - and of course the portion that is gone is where the service tag was.

We're trying to find out if our car originally came with keyless entry (only got one key with the car and it's not a factory pontiac key) and would be curious to know the paint code in case I need to get touch up paint. I think our car is supposed to have the keyless entry - after reading the differences between the SE1 and SE2 I belive ours is the SE2 (has the opening in the headrests, steering wheel radio controls etc).

If anyone knows how to look up this information our VIN is 1G2NE52E7XM735188.

Thanks a bunch,
Beverly

Just ask your dealer to get it for you. You'd need access to the GM information system to get it from the VIN.
