yesterday i was driving to work and noticed that my rear window was down 1". i tried to roll it up with the power button...nothing. i tried to roll it down, and i made a clunk noise, then went a little and stopped. when i got to work i used my hands and pulled it up into place.
when i left to go home i noticed that it started to slide down slowly. when i got home, i saw that the plastic thing at the top of the slider was broken.
does it sound liek someone tried to pry my window down? how coudl that piece break if thats not what was done? ive rolled that window down maybe 10 times in the 6 years that ive owned the car.

Could be, since you never let it down.

i didnt let it down, but the night before a friend of mine was sittign back there. i doubt he put it down at all (on purpose at least) considering it was pretty cold out.

Could be someone tried to get in, but it seems like a silly way to break in. Im thinking it might be the window regulator, probally missing some teeth or something.

i looked in and when i pulled that rubber piece that holds in the top of the door panel, i could see something that didnt look right. when i roll the window down and up, i see a metal cable that moves, but it looks like whatever attatches that to the plastic piece on the rail is broken. i was going to pull out the whole rail and everything but im not a window specialist and i dont wanna mess anything up. ill get it fixed this week, im just concerned that someone tried to break in.

if they were to try and "pry" the window open it would have probably broken.....especially if someone actually wanted to break in. I had that kind of break in once. They just jammed a big screwdriver in between the window and the thing that keeps it straight and broke the window easily.

If you saw a "cable" just free down in the door I bet that your regulator is shot. The cable goes around a plastic pulley and thats probably what your seeing. You have to buy the motor with the regulator I believe somewhere around 200 dollars.

Its not too painful if you have a good general background in mechanics. The big deal is that you have to buy the whole unit, and its pricey.

well i got it fixed, it was the regulator. they said that its common to go bad since its a little plastic part, and it only cost me 125 including install.
