do you guys think that I could install a 3100 v-6 into my 89 grand am? I think that I could do it. I want to know what you guys think. I think it can be done. So any input is appreciated. I want the up's on the power and torque. I want to do this, all i have to do is figure out how and rebuild the engine.

Having put a few of these were they don't belong, i can say it's doable, but when the car wasnt designed for it, then the job gets to be a royal pain. You could end up fabricating axles, trans ands motor mounts, and not to mention the computer and wiring system you'll need to make this thing run. It is possible, make no mistake, but i think the question to ask would be "Is this plausible ?" not "Is this possible ?". Thanks, Dave.

If your going to go through the trouble of putting one in why stop at the 3.1L, why don't you go bigger?

Good call yonkman. You can get either motor in MAF or speed density configuration. They're the same size, so ideally, you should get the 3400, but i just wanted to answer his question as simply as possible.

An H.O. quad 4 swap would out perform the 3100 swap and give you more hp.
