Aftermarket Tach

Anyone have an idea of a good one to get. My GA has the 3-gauge cluster rather than the 5. I want a tach but not have to deal with rewireing the whole console. Do they make Pillar tachs for the 95? Or should I just get a dash mounting one?

A 79-83 mustang pillar gauge pod is a close fit for our cars from what I understand. After that it's just a matter of finding a 2 1/16" tach to fit into it. But the mustang pods are pretty expensive and the only other option are universal fit pods which don't blend in at all. You can always get the larger tach's that bolt on top of your dash somewhere too but those look awful IMO.

I wouldn't waste your money on a big tach that mounts on the dash. If you can find a small one and get a single gauge pod to mount somewhere then go for it but don't get the ugly 5inch monsters.

I really dont like those large ones that mount on top of the dash. I would much rather get a pillar gauge.

Just make your own piller pod. Take the stock one of to use as a mold. Fiberglass it with a pod or two on it.

can't believe ya'll dont like the 5" tachs. im puttin one in the pickup. :( oh well, i like it and that's all that matters :P


if you're gonna get one just be sure and spend the extra money and get a GOOD one. all the autometer gauges i've had have been accurate. maybe not 100% dead on, but they were close enough. closer than some gauges i've seen used.

thanks for the link to that site. not a member there yet. i've thought about redoing my whole cluster with aftermarket guages. and i just want to have that big tach sitting on the dash letting people know i mean business :P
