NOTE: im canadian eh...prices in canadian

Hey guys...I just want to get rid of the stock speakers in my car without breaking the bank..so I want to take advantage of the buy 1 pair get one 1/2 off at futureshop. First off.. Im pretty sure Im going to do a minor mod and go to the 5 1/4 instead of the 6x4 or 6.5. For the 5 1/4 Im pretty sure im going with the 149.99 Infinitys on this link

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...042&newdeptid=9

The choice is the 6x9s....I think Im going to go with the 99.99 pioneers NOT the 99.95 ones...on this page

linkies no workie

also jus listen to a few pairs before u buy, although everything in their sound booths sound good, jus the way there set up. and sound like crap in your car

one good thing about futureshop, is that u have 30 days to try out, and return if you dont like, regardless if they were installed.

cheers

Ive been told to try and stay within the same family of speakers for both sets..would everyone agree with this?

There is no need to stay with-in one family of speakers when choosing front/rear speakers. This is only important when the speakers are on the same plane... like left/center/right in home theater. In a car, by the time mid/high frequency information from the rear speakers reach your ears they have been colored by the rear windshield, headliner, side windows and seats. Voice matching is the only valid argument for staying w/in one speaker family, and for the above reason, does not apply for front/rear speaker selection.

Personal preference pays a big part in system design. I prefer a sound stage that seems to spread across the front dash w/ little to no rear-fill. This closely matches the sound of a live concert (my favorite place to listen to music). One of my co-workers prefers a very strong rear presence because it most closely reproduces his favorite place to listen to music... on stage playing guitar.

Think about how you like to experience music. Is staging even important to you? Or are you simply looking to fill the car with sound? Enjoy!

Just so you know. I have the pioneer 3-way 6x9s and they sound really good. I can turn them up very high and have no distortion at all. Good choice for 6x9's for the price IMO.
