Hey guys I'm trying to find a new camshaft for my motor... it's in the job all bored out, ported and polished but I can't find a cam for it. I thought I had one on Mantapart.com but we have send them numorous emails and voice mails and haven't heard anything back. Almost afraid to send them money anyway after there crappy service!
Does anybody know anywhere else I can get bigger camshafts to?

Thanks

Don't send Mantapart any money. Just finished an email exchange with them today. They don't have any more 2.0 camshafts....period.

Are you looking for an upgrade or a stock cam? You can get a new stock cam pretty cheap at about any parts store. Probably have to order it but it won't take too long to get. I bought a sealed power kit (cam, lifters, followers) a while back at a decent price.

If you want a custom grind you'll have to shop around machine shops. Paeco Industries may be able to help you out. http://www.paeco.com/

Something tells me Mantapart is all out of 2.0 OHC parts. I got lucky and found a dealer whose wharehouse has three cam housings left....well, they've now got two left...for the 92-94 "H" motor. Couldn't find a cam housing for a 87-91 "K" or "M" motor anywhere.

So, I'll be running my "M" cam w/less than 3k miles in a "H" housing on an "H" head. The "H" cam may be better as it has chamfered oil ports in the cam lobes. I think they did this to help reduce the self destructive nature of the "K" and "M" cams. Not sure if the "H" lift/duration is the same/worse/better.

Check out this auction on Ebay. I bought quite a bit of parts for my Ebay motor from these guys. I remember they had a cam up for auction cheap a while back. Send them a message and ask. Real good customer service too. Tell them "mr_wig" sent you :)

For a good cam use the one from a 91+ MPFI 2.0 NA, it has quite a bit more lift and duration to it.

You guys are missing out on a lot just reading through the 2.0 turbo forum you guys are missing out on a lot for this motor.
Go here <http://www.j-body.org> and check out the second generation forum, thats were most of the 2.0 talk is.
Also here <http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=29&i=46302&t=44184#46302> this is a FAQ I wrote a while back.
And <http://www.lt3engine.tk> A site dedicated to the LT3 (2.0 turbo).
And as for DOHC there is a DOHC head for this motor, but dont gt your hopes up.....Vauxhall, Holden and Opel are still using the 2.0 block for some of there motors and they make a DOHC NA and turbo version of it they also have the SOHC NA version, I was looking nto getting the head and all the timming acessories rom one of these motors but but shipping will kill you since the above mentioned manufacturers are made out of the UK, I know I guy who is fropm the UK and makes regular trips there evry year so I'm looking into getting a fovor from him soon :D
If your going to do a searcg on it the DOHC turbo engine code is C20LET and the NA DOHC is C20XE and they came in cars like the Cavalier (not the american one) Calibra and I think the Astra but I'm not sure. Theres also a few message boards dedicated to these motors who are a big help in getting you the info needed to get the swap done, but you can find them for yourself :)

Opps I thought this was a second page to the previous thread I was reading, lol
just ignore the DOHC stuff, not that you'd want to.

That's alot of good info on the writeup you did. .0217 (.55mm) isn't a whole lot more lift but it is measureable and will make a bit of difference.

Once my house.....I mean once my garage with attached house is finished I'll finally get my beast running again. I'll let you know what kind of compression I get with the turbo pistions and the MPFI head. I know it's gonna be somewhere between 8.8:1 and 8:1 since the non-turbo pistons are much higher compression. Hoping for around 8.5:1 but probably won't be that high. We'll see.

Why are you running a 2.0 MPFI NA head on your turbo motor? Your compression will be 8.0:1 with turbo pistons and any head cause I dont think the head ever changed much at all from 83-94. I have heard people say the MPFI NA head (vin H head) has smaller valves than the others but I have never found any proff of a diffrence in H and K or M heads.

The valves are the same. The combustion chamber is considerably smaller which will yield a higher compression than the turbo (051 casting) head. I've done a good deal of porting and polishing so this sucker should flow real nice. Matched with a lightly ported intake manifold and the Fiero 2.8 throttle body it should be real interesting.

The H head isn't much different, only the smaller combustion chambers, that's it. The M heads have a "kidney" shape chamber while the H head has a "D" shaped chamger. I also found a new H series cam carrier.....the K and M carriers are not to be found new anywhere. They are also the same except for some holes drilled and tapped for the cover plate where the distributor goes on the K and M.

I ended up sending my cam to Paeco Industries back on Feb 24, 2005... they seemed like a company that knew what they were doing. After sending them email after email and endless phone calls with no answer we finally got in touch with them last week, May 13, they said it would be done in 2 - 3 weeks when we first talked to them
Apparently they screwed up the calabration on my cam and had to go and buy me a new one to redo, they are telling me now that I will have it this week, I won't hold my breath,
I asked them if they would fly it up to me at there cost since they screwed up and he told me they didn't screw it up... cam was fine when I shipped it to them!
Now I have no idea how the cam will run when I get it back after all the run around they have given me!
It will cost me over 600 CAN by the time I get then cam back into my hands

Sweet Jesus! 600 CDN that's crazy. I sent them a head and cam a while back and it took longer than they promised, I did keep calling Carl Stringfellow every couple of days and emailing him the other days. Everything ended up alright. Should only cost 210 US + s/h both ways.
