I just installed the CAI i got from ebay, i had problems installing it. The two pipes were not angled well and so the set up is resting against the battery, the plastic wheel well cover and the washer fluid container. There was definitely a difference when i test drove it but i'm a little worried. The set up looks anything but decent, the pipes are not flush with each other (or with the intake) inside the coupler.

Is this going to affect performance? Is my car going to start vibrating? Should i have cut out the metal part sticking out (that normally held the ram air resonator in place)? Is it going to work fine/ am i worrying unnecessarily?

It'll be fine, sounds like it's sitting the same as mine and mine works great.

so it doesn't matter that the pipes are not flushed; as far as the retainers are tight

The pipes not being flush COULD disturb airflow a little, but I dont think it would be anything noticeable.

Mine aren't completely straight in the couplers. I used the couplers to pick up the slack for angle I needed. It will be fine...Just make sure everything is bolted down well. :)
