Hey Guys,

I know the topic of removing the 6X9's in the rear of a GAGT Sedan has been posted a million times, but I've got that far and I'm installing my new JBL's back there today. This is a question I haven't seen posted.

Because the old speakers are Dual Voice Coil, and the new ones are not, the old harness has 4 wires and the new one only has 2. How would I wire that up? Connect both reds and both blacks and do it that way??

One thought I had, was that I'm also wiring up a sub through a Line Level Converter. So, could I take the 2 wires that would have normally run the 'woofer' portion of the old 6X9's and run them to the sub and use the other two to run the new 6X9??

Orrr, should I just stick with connecting the two reds and two blacks and going that route.

Hopefully someone can respond this morning, I'm hoping to get 'er done today.

Thanks!!! :D

i dont really think putting the 2 wires together would do anything, but you could at least try it i guess. i would just run the speakers off the high side of wires. then it's just as good as a crossover on them, and you can let the sub pick up the lows.

you COULD run the low pass wires to a sub, but the sub is going to be pretty faint. and you might not be able to hear it when you're driving down the road. i think the factory amp back there is only 25 watts, or something like that. if your amp has speaker wire inputs i'd just run those low pass wires to the amp. again, acting as a crossover.

DON"T connect them together!!!!! They are 2 seperate amps. The amp for the tweets resides in the head unit & the amp for the woofers is the one behind the carpet in the left qtr. panel.
As far as the rest of the delimma you are about to face just do a search here & at n-body.net.

if you're crazy enough, you could make your new high's bi-amped. I thought about buying some better 6x9s and doing that. Of course more power would be best :P
