I found out that The 5 spoke chrome techs, like the aluminum ones on the 99 GT's and what not, arnt really chome, but just a Aluminum wheel with a Chrome Hubcap over them, how cheap is that!

Welcome to 1998. ;)

They are done that way for several reasons. Decreased weight, and ease of cleaning are amung them.

Hmmm,.. I thought that was common knowlage around here.... Anyways, I'd rather have them the way they are than nickle plate. Cuz you KNOW they can't mass produce nice factory billit wheels, it just wouldn't be cost effective. Not for a GA atleast.

pure chrome would be very heavy and very expensive

Not to mention real chrome oxidizes and discolors easily. I was upset back in the day when I realized that I paid all that extra cash for plastic covers. But today I praise them because they are EXTREMELY easy to clean and maintain and they still look as good as the day I purchased the car even after a few north east winters.

When I bought my car I had the painted 15 spokes on it, they looked good but they were a bitch to clean. Then recently i had the chance to get the chromotechs with almost brand new eagle rsa's on them for FREE! So I took them, but was a little disapointed that they weren't real chrome like I had thought. I got over that real quick when I saw how nice the chrome looked with the silver. Now there is a fully loaded GA GT with SE rims running around out there. Oh well, not my problem! :D

I wanted a set of spoked SE wheels for our GAGT.
Actually one of the special GTPs has a chrome version of them that I thought would be killer. But the best IMO are still the 17" chrome, twisted, 6 spoke SSEi wheels.
