I have been looking all over for an exhaust for my 2000 GASE, but I can't find one for my 2.4L. Do they even make them for the 2.4?

i dont think there is anyone, but here is a guy with a 2.4 SE and he put on a custom exhuast that im sure any exhuast shop in your area can do for you.

Hey that is the link to my car, lol. Yeah dude there is no exhaust system that is already pre fabed for the 2.4. I suggest just getting a straight through muffler(ex. magnaflow) and bring it to a local exhaust shop and get them to bend some pipe and weld up the muffler. Now I got the camaro style muffler that mounts transversly with single in dual out. I just got the dual for the looks, all that is needed on the 2.4 is single exhaust. From what most people say go with 2.25" piping if you do not have very many mods.

if you have a 99+ car... any exhaust BORLA & SLP will bolt on perfectly.

what do you mean any borla exhaust. A cat back kit or a muffler?

There is a cat back system made by both Borla and SLP. People with the 3400 usually get these systems, but they still bolt right up with the 2.4. If you use the search I am sure you will find peoples cars with both the borla and slp systems on there. If you still have no idea what we are talking about then go to www.pfyc.com They sell both the borla and slp.

the exhaust for the 3400 wont cause any problems with the 2.4?

Nope, if you are willing to pay the pricetag then go ahead and do it, but the custom route is cheaper.

Don't get a SLP for the 2.4. People said they sound like crap.

If I got the custom exhaust could they reuse most of my old one or will it be a cat back just like the kit?

Look I am sure that no one minds helping you out, but all of this has been covered before. Use the search button. The word custom means make it like ya want it. If you want them to re use old restrictive pipe then they will. If ya want cat back then they can do that. Thats the point of it being custom. Get it like you want it!

um... what do you mean by this? why would they reuse old parts to build you a new catback. you do know a catback from the catalytic converter back right?

Yeah I know what a cat back it. I just thought that if I had one built then they would just put a new muffler on it, but from what I understand they can do it either way all the way to the cat or just the muffler.
Thanks for helping my dumb ass.

yea you can put your old muffler back on if you get a catback, but that would be pointless, if your going to get a catback with bigger piping then you want a new muffler to go along with your new larger exhuast pipe. and they could just put a new bigger muffler on your car, but your not going to gain any power your car will just become louder

Thanks, louder is what I am looking for. I like the aggressive sound that the ram air v6 has but I know it probably wont sound too much like that. Thanks for helping me out. I really appreciate it.

Your right, it won't sound like the V-6. It is your choice but while your getting exhaust put on it would at least be benificial to get a cat-back system. I don't think just adding a muffler for sound purposes is going to do much for performance gain. A bigger pipe from the cat-back might give you a more agressive sound also. I just don't think that slapping a muffler on there is a good choice. But hey its your car so do what ya want.

Actually, the stock piping isn't too bad on these cars, at least for an engine with no other modifications. It's the muffler that is really holding it back. So replacing the muffler will help, but I would suggest replacing the whole thing ONLY because the stock piping has a bad crush bend in it, IIRC. Go to a shop, tell them you want 2.25" piping, and if you want the dual-exhaust look, a Camaro style muffler. You *could* go with 2.5" piping, but thats a little bit of overkill. The LD9 doesn't make enough power stock to warrent that large of piping.

Yea, 2.25 is the perfect size piping as long as your LD9 isnt blown.

Nope, it's not blown. She has 86000 on her and still runs strong.

He meant blown as in supercharged or turbocharged. If it's already got 86,000 on it, depending on how long you want to keep it, its probably not worth it to re-do the whole system. But it is your car, and you can do what you want with it. That's the beauty of modding your car. :)
You could actually get by fairly cheap and decently, have a shop do the piping, and get a IMCO muffler. You can find them on eBay fairly cheap. Get a stainless tip, and you're good to go. That'd be just single exhaust, though.

Oh, haha well I feel like and idiot besides i don't have that much to spend on someting like that anyway. It would be cool though. Well I was hoping to keep it for at least a few more years. Why will the exhaust give it less time?

Nah, don't feel like an idiot. That's why places like this exist, if we all knew everything, we wouldn't need this. If you're just looking for a SLIGHT change, you could find someone around you that is getting rid of their GT exhaust, get the muffler off them, and put it on your car. Bolts right up, sounds a little better, and has dual chrome tips. The performance gains would be nonexistant, but it's a fairly cheap thing to do. I did it with my car, cost me 20 bucks, a 1/2 hour drive, and about 1/2 hour to get it in. I'm using at a fix until I put full custom on this summer.
