would the needle on the vac guage move alot during accelration/crusing?

Oil pressure and voltage is what I have ... Air/Fuel IMO is worthless ... kind of neat to watch but for MOST individuals, it is usless :)

Depending what you have...if you don't have one, get a tach.
And what year GA do you have? I've been looking for pillar pods for my 95.

2001 and its from pfyc.com The air fule guage, what exactly does it read and how does it display it? The reason why im going with only a 2 pod with vac. and volts is because its $80 an hour for labor and they told me 2 hours to do it. Would the air/fule take more than an hour to instal?

why not do it yourself? i have a 3 gauge pod,
-air/fuel
-volt
-oil pressure.
the directions on PFYC were EXCELLENT at describing install on all of them.
A/F has an arch of LEDs ranging from red to orange to green. it bounces back and forth between lean and rich, middle is stoic. you want it to average in the middle (orange) area. when you floor it it goes into rich pretty far,a nd when you downshift while going downhill it goes all the way lean.
most people say its useless, but when i submerged my airfilter in water it showed me what was wrong...all the way rich. it told me that i wanst getting any air into the engine, rather than me flipping that i blew my motor. i dried out the air filter, and everything was fine again.

What do you need to monitor the vaccume pressure for?
We installed what the factory forgot, Oil Pressure and Voltmeter.
BTW, I also used VDO Vision series gauges with a red bulb cover and they match the factory gagues nearly prefectly.
Not a great photo but you get the idea...

how long do you guys think instal would be on the air/fule guage? ty.

it depends on your skill level at installing gauges and wiring, also where you have to rout the wires etc. So it can take an hour it could take more. Sorry i am not sure how to word all of this.

I am going to pay someone to do it. I didnt want to spend more than an hour's labor for any guage which is why i am considering a vac. and volt. Any possibility for the guages to go into the 3 A/C ports in the dash? Ive seen it done b4 but how?

So are you looking for gauges just for their astetics or do you actually want them to monitor your vehicles vital signs?

Vacuum is worthless, oil pressure and voltmeter are actually useful if you don't have them stock.

well considering the best price i got so far was $80 an hour and oil could take two hours. Makng $8.75 an hour what would you do?

all i ever did for my volt meter gauge is run the wire for the positive terminal on the gauge is to the fuse box. I used a test light and found a slot in the fuse box which is only powered if the key is on or car is running. This worked really well for me and is still working til this day. As for the ground wire i ran it to the nearest piece of metal i could find which was grounded by the car's chassis or ground wiring. also for the illumination of the gauge i tapped into one of the wires for interior lights (lights that light up when your parking lights or headlights are on) and for the ground wire of the light i went to the same spot as ground for the gauge itself. 80$ is alot to spend for someone to do it for ya.
for me to install my volt gauge this is what it had cost me
about 20$ for the gauge
about 4-5$ per role of wire (IE red and black 12 or 14 gauge wire)
about 2-3$ for some asortment of electrical connecters
and 1$ for some electrical tape
If ya lived closer i'd give ya a hand on installing your gauges
Do you have any friends or family that know how to do wiring and such? not saying that you don't know how or anything like that
one last thing, if you really want to do a nice clean install remember the longer you take on something the better it will look and operate and if you do it fast it probably won't turn out the way you want it to

For the oil pressure gauge all you need to do is go to Advanced Auto Parts and spend $10 on a Oil Pressure sending unit socket and remove the original and repalce it with the one for the gauge. Then run a single wire into the gauges and wire the rest accordingly.
Really rather simple.
As for the cost of having someone else do it, I think it's foolish to pay someone to install a gauges that is worthless. That to me is a bigger waste of money than paying twice as much for something that will actully be worth spending money on.

Oil pressure and volts are good monitoring of vitals on any engine - which is why some clusters have them already.
Vac won't tell you much... will basicly show you how hard you're pushing the gas pedal.
A/F... Unless you get a wideband O2 controller and gauge combo, an A/F gauge is essentially the most useless gauge ever. Might as well get a couple blinking LED's instead.

Werd. The vision series matches very well... even on the older GA's. (I have the boost/vac & EGT ones)

Nobody makes em for pre-99. Take off the A-pillar and look how big it is... you'll see why. (plus different piece for 2 vs 4 doors)
The old Mustang double pod fits very closely. Most people use that. (the Foxbody years... 79-93ish?)

Just went to Advanced Auto a little while ago and went down the tool isle and they carry the Oil Pressure switch socket for $5.95.

I also second that. I see so many factory vehicles running around with A/F gauges on them and I just chuckle. I think for the majority of people out there they are amused by simple things like blinking lights and shiney nickles.

Ok... sorry to drag up an old thread, but tech has changed a pinch and us newbs could still use some experienced opinions.
Here's the scoop. I have a '04 GASE with Temp, Tach, MPH and Fuel on the dash. Nice, but I'm a bit of a stat-nut, I'm looking for more.
The Interceptors look nice. Two stats in one slot.
Now for the problem, what do I *need*?
What I've seen, so far, seems to agree that Volts and Oil Press. are good stats to know. Given that a 3-pod of Interceptors gives me six stats, and the 2-pod gives four, what else *should* I have?
I realise that with an SE I'm not going to be doing any serious performing, but stats are good for other things, and I'd like to be prepared for whatever I might need.

Get a volt meter
I sottered mine to a fuse in the fuse box
Vacume guage.
looks tyte when you rev the motor because it goes back and forth but also useless. hooks up to the manafold? Anyways there is a ruber cap you take off and hook it right up
Air/Fule
Get the pig tail and instal.
The guage pods from pfyc suck. They are Cr*py plastic that will crack and flake. They do not sit flush with the window and "bow" out in the middle.

No one said trans temp. I have the A/F gauge (yes, worthless pretty much, but I have all the other gauges already from the factory. Beside, it's pretty to watch! :cletus: ) and the trans. Lemme tell ya, the tranny gets hot on summer days. :(

Hadn't heard about the problems with PYFC. I'll look into that.
As a fall back, I found these: A-pillar pods (http://www.rpmoutlet.com/propodsa1.htm)
(something to work on as soon as I convert all the exterior lights to LED)

i would go with oil pressure and volt......probably the more important gauges you need. if you've got lots of mods thats when the a/f, trans temp, EGT, vacuum, etc. come into play.

ok, raising of a really old thread, but any whoo, i have 3 guages i got for free, but only 2 im installing b/c i already have the temp one, but i have a volt meter and oil pressure i want to install. im def going to wait on the pressure one till it gets nicer and i have people helping me, but for the voltmeter, which part in the fuse block did you tap into anyone, and how did you go about doing it? and either where can i pick up a 2 pod a pillar for an 02, or how do i go about mounting something in the brackets under the radio in that large cavity by the cup holders? im guessing take off the radio din and then drill the holes, but from there i dont know, possibly zip tie or something till i can get a a pillar mount, but if anyone else knows, plz tell me!! i also think it would be pretty sweet to mount it in the hvac blower hole (like the middle one) in the dash... if anyone has dont this, please tell me how!! thanks everyone!

Just wanted to say sorry If I posted this alot in other threads....
If I run 14 Gauge wire from the fuse box for 12V power, and 14 Gauge wire from a good ground connetion and 14 Gauge wire from the dimmer switch. Run all 3 wires to the pod into the gauges, hook up the three wires to the one 14 Gauge 12V supply, three wires into the 14 Gauge ground connection and the three wires into the 14 Gauge dimmer switch. Is that ok? the 14 Gauge wire to power the 3 gauges do I need a fuse for that?
Thanks:) My gauges should be coming in soon.
