Hello, my names Amanda and I just bought a 2004 white Grand Am about 4 hours ago. Hopefully I can learn some stuff about this car. I traded my 2001 Mercury Cougar for it.

I have a question for you? How does that car handle up there with that frigid weather?

What is the average temperature up there? I dont know how those poor cars can handle that.

Our weather is not even that cold. It gets colder down in some of the states. Every winter we will have a couple weeks where it snaps and is -25 or colder. Our cars are winterized up here so when its that cold we plug the cars in to keep them warm. My 01 Cougar handled the weather just fine. I have only had my grand am for 4 days and the snow is melting, its not winterized so thank god its warming up otherwise the grand am would be frozen.

In the summer the average temp is 70-90 degrees. In the winter it hangs around 30-zero degrees. January is our coldest month and thats where it likes to stay at -20 or colder. But any car can handle the weather here if it is winterized. I am also getting my autostart installed. Cant have a car without one.

How much do you have to pay to have your car winterized? Or did it just come standard with your cougar?

When I bought my cougar it was used and the previous owner had it winterized. The grand am came up from the states 2 weeks ago so its not winterized. Winterizing it can be from $250-$600.
