I am looking for some opinions. I think my Kenwood KAC-8401 (http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/product.jsp?productTypeId=11&sortBy=price&pageId=2&productId=2480) might be blown. I replaced the fuse even though it didn’t appear blown on the amp. Also, the inline power fuse looks fine. I was listening to music one day pretty loud and all the sound just cut out. I tested the speakers using the headunit’s power and they are all fine but the amp will not even turn on. I also bypassed the remote turn on to make sure that wasn’t the problem. All connections were removed and it still did not turn on. Is it blown? Would a wire short be the problem? If it is blown is there a way kenwood could fix the amp? I would have to send it into a kenwood service center. It it even worth the money of shipping to get there and have them say I need a new one or can they fix it for cheaper, than buying a new one? I also do not want this happening again if they fix it.
Speakers the amp powers:
Front Speakers: Kenwood KFC- Xr51p (http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/product.jsp?productTypeId=22&sortBy=price&productId=2429)
Rear Speakers: Kenwood KFC-X698 (http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/product.jsp?productTypeId=43&sortBy=price&productId=737)

Ehh, the amp is only worth around 160 bucks, i wouldnt waste your time sending it back to kenwood. Actually, forget that, just call them and see how much it would cost to fix it. Seeing as they still think the retail value of those things are 300 dollars, they might charge you more than they are actually worth.

Hard to say with the fuse not being blown.
Not sure if that amp has 'protection' or not, it coulda jus over heated and went kaput. Or if it did, the protection is not worth a damn. And i've never seen an amp NOT turn on if the outputs were gone.
Thats my opinion.

hey it might have blown if the amp is rated too low. what fuse size does the manual recommend? what was in there. keep in mind that the current draw is continually varying. if you used the recommended fuse size, then the fuse can still blow, that happens when you use more power the amp was designed to use regularly.
ie: the fuse is 60 amps, you might hit 63 amps periodically, and it shouldnt low if its hit for maybe a pico second, since youl probably be running RMS around 42 amps...but if your RMS is around 50 (pushing the amp harder than usual) then you might peak at 70 amps, and thus blow your fuse. solution...get a larger fuse.
