just wondering what you guys all think of the LD9

i had 170,000kms on mine and i need a new motor now :-(
i had oil changes done everytime the light came on.

:(

i took off my oil fill cap tonight and i started the car and i can feel alot of air coming up from it and i notice oil spotting on the ground

so i think a valve went and it punched a hole into the piston so now compression is going through the piston than bouncing off the crankcase and blowing back up through my oil fill and the crankcase breather is spitting some oil out.

I have a 98 GASE w/ the LD9 and the only problem I have ever had was the typical water pump that went out at 64K. My battery internally combusted one time, but that was no biggie. She currently has 125,xxx on her and still drives like she did at 20K. I just recently got a GP GTP, so she's not being driven quite as much anymore :slant:

The air coming out of the oil fill hole is normal. My 99 GASE does it, and my previous car, a 92 Talon turbo did it, and my car before that did it, a 93 Nissan Sentra 1.6litre. Thats no biggie

As a engine wears out, combustion gasses slip by the rings on the piston. This is called "blow by" and it is a quick way to gauge the health of the engine.

Another thing that happens with a worn engine is oil slips by the same rings and gets burnt with the gas. The result is oil usage, decreased compression and efficiency.

If you actually had a hole in your piston, I doubt that your engine would run at all.
