not really sure but i'm guessing some fiberglassing and stuff like that....not something i've gotten into so for the time being i've just got mine mounted underneath the HVAC controls...fit quite nicely unless your sitting in the back....then you don't see ****

ok homie.. here is the low down.

FIRST: Buy an LCD screen.
SECOND: Tare it apart. Remember how it all goes back together... but you wanna just get the front bezel. Thats it.
Third: Take your dash bezel off.
Fourth: Lay your LCD front piece over the dash bezel and make cutting marks.
Fifth: Grab your Dremel with a cutting wheel and carfully cut your bezel so the LCD front piece will fit nicly (flush) with the bezel. Take your time and WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.

Lets take a moment and talk about safety. I was cutting out the hole for my screen with my dremel and all of a sudden a piece of molten plastic shot up from the cutting disk and landed on my upper eye lid. I quickly swatted at it and it fell down to my lower eyelid and once again i swatted it and it landed on the ground. 30 min later i had a half of an inch worth of burn on both eyelids (puss was oozing out) and they hurt like crazy for 5 straight days. Good thing it didnt get in the actual eye ball. WEAR SAFTY GLASSES.

OK.. back to the lesson.

sixth: Go to walmart and get some plastic weld. Its an epoxy that you mix from two small tubes. Spot weld that front piece onto the bezel and hold it until the epoxy sets. Fill in any major cracks with more expoxy.
Seventh: get some rough sand paper. 200 should be fine. Sand the bezel and the LCD front piece completly (if you plan on painting it.. which you will HAVE to do.)
Eighth: Get some Bondo Ultimate. This stuff WILL stick to plastic. Dont listen to anyone if they say it wont. Just make sure the plastic is scuffed up with the sand paper. Now mold the front piece to the bezel. Make sure you make your curves right and dont go overboard with the bondo. Let it dry. Now sand the crap out of it until you get your desired shape. You might need to go back and re-bondo it if you get low spots. After you sanded it and got the shape you want.. get some primer and spray a light coat. You should now be able to see all the pin holes and imperfections. You can fix these with spot putty. Sand down the spot putty and it should be smooth as a baby ass. Now primer it.. and paint it. Now put your screen back together. It helps if you plan it out. Measure your LCD and measure the space to where its going. You might have to make some modifications here and there. THats the basics. Any questions? No? Ok.. GOOD LUCK!

Just wanted to compliment the two blue dashes (the 96-98 and the 99-newer). Both are VERY well thought out and just look amazing. You just know alot of blood sweat and tears went into those chuncks of plastic :D

Once again...both look amazing!

i would rather have the molding....looks unique and quite a bit of work goes into it...i should HOPEFULLY have mine done by the weekend....just got the final sanding to do and then paint....and i've finally got the weather to do the painting....

but that Pioneer is still nice as hell!!!! nothing wrong with that...
