I installed a cd changer in my 2001 GA. Right now I have it wired to the constant power supply to the radio and to the blower power supply. Unfortunately this means when the car is turned off and the radio continues to play, the cd player shuts down. Can the ACC power supply wire be connected to one of the speaker wires from the radio harness? I need to locate a wire that will continue to supply power to the changer until the door is opened. Thanks.

not speaker wire...but there is an accessory wire that goes to the radio, that might be of assistance. the blower probably turns off when the engine is turned off.

I have one of those repair manuals for a 2000 GA. It mentioned that there was a YELLOW Acc power wire and another YELLOW wire for one of the speakers. Since the book does not cover a 2001 the ACC wire for the radio may be a different color (because there was only one). Do you know which color wire would be the ACC wire, or do you kow if there is a wire diagram on the forum that covers the 01 model. Thanks.

I think the manual will cover the 2001. Since you have the 2.4l motor I don't think the car changed until the eco went in. So the manual is correct for your motor and car wiring.

Maybe use the power wire from the radio and then it will function just like the radio. And if you need more amperage than that you could always use that signal to drive a relay. Just a thought and hope all works out.

If I hook both wires to the radio constant power supply (Solid Orange), will that turn off the unit when the car is truned off and the door is opened? Another question the ACC power should wire should be Solid Yellow- I do see one but thats for the speaker, should the ACC wire be of the same thickness of the Constant power wire? Thanks for the info.

2000 and 2001 have two different wiring systems. I'm guessing you still have the stock headunit. The only reason it does the 10 delay is because the radio is link to the BCM. The BCM tell it to turn on or off. Also the 2001+ stock radio harness does not have a switch 12v line.

Thanks Rocket. It seems the only solution I have is to leave it as is and have the cd changer stop when the car is truned off OR trying hooking both Constant and ACC wires to the main power wire for the radio...I assume three things might happen, 1) the changer truns off when the radio turns off, 2) the changer stays on until turned off manuall or 3) the unit blows up. My guess is that the changer will trun off since the power to the raido will be cut once the door is open.

dont mess with the accessory wire.. hook it up to the sunroof fuse or some other fuse that is powered only when the car is on

if you hook em both up to constant power then itll always be on until you turn it off. it might sound ok, but the one time you forget to turn it off youll hate your dead battery.

I guess I'll just leave it the way it is. I just figured there was a way to wire it so that the player turns off when the door is opened (like the radio). To everyone - thanks for the info.

If you do get and after maket head unit can get the chime box. GMRC01. This will let your after market head unit stay on for the 10min delay. Then you can tap the switch 12v for your changer. :)

Update. I purchased a fuse tap, ran the power wire to the tap and plugged it intro an ACC port in the driver side fuse box. The CD changer shuts off when the when the car is turned OFF but at lease it work in the ACC mode versus the ON mode.
