$535 to replace a fuel filter. It wasn't on my GA, but on my moms Jeep. We didn't go to the dealer, we went to our local mechanic. He said something like the part was $400 alone.. I dunno, it seems like a ripoff.. What do you think?

Holy ripoffs batman! I spent less on an entire fuel system, including made-to-order fuel injectors, pump, filter, hoses, fittings, etc.

Its that expensive because its a Chrysler product. simply put Chrysler doesnt like letting parts houses like Advanced, NAPA, etc sell there parts, there for the only place you can get a pump for it is directly from Chrysler. just one of the many reasons people shouldnt purchase chrysler products.

You, SIR, are obviously a MOPAR Bigot!!!
j/k :D :D
Actually, even NAPA only sells genuine Delco fuel pumps for the GA's.
FP's are quite intricate, and they generally last a long time. There's a LOT of custom-molded plastic in them, and the plastic eventually becomes brittle. They can't feasibly be re-built.
So, there is very little aftermarket support for a company to create custom Delco or MOPAR or 'yota molds to make cheaper-than-dealer replacement fuel pumps.

thats the thing though, you can't get a replacement pump what so ever from anywhere but chrysler, albeit NAPA sells Delco its usually cheaper buying the same delco part from NAPA than it is a dealership (for me at least.) about all you can get from Parts houses for Chrysler's are Brakes, Belts, hoses, and plugs. otehr stuff is chrysler only.
And yes i am a mopar(doesnt even deserve being capitalized) Hate them with every fiber of my being.
