5th Annual GAOC Moncton Meet, April 23-24, 2005

Well guys, it's that time again. The Moncton Speed Sport car show is approaching fast, and it's time for us Maritimers and 'Honourable' Maritimers to get together.

The show is from April 22-24. If we have the same format as other years, I say we meet on Saturday the 23, go to the show, have a good meal, then head home on the 24th.

OK, so who's game? Once we know who's coming we can look into hotel arrangements. Also, if anyone has any suggestions or comments, something yu'd like changed this year, post away!

Well, Moncton New Brunswick is ROUGHLY 13 hours from Albany, NY so I don't think "for the size of the show" if would be worth your while ... of course it would be great to meet you; however, I don't think you would, in the end, be happy with the costs involved and the enjoyment you'd have :(

I'm game but I don't think that I will stay 'over night' this year ... money is a little tight (not so tight that I won't go) but I think that for the sake of 3 hours, I'll just drive home :) ... I may change my mind but right now, I think that is my plan.

We usually meet at the McDonalds at the end of Mountain Road, near Magnetic Hill. I haven't heard much from the others yet though to make plans for certain.

Well, of course I'm in.

So far, the plan for me is to meet you a McDonalds as per usual, go to the car show, normaly I would have gone to dinner as well, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to make that part this year. My Best friend is having a surprise birthday party and of course I was invited by his GF. Its my best friend and everything, I cannot miss that. But might be able to come by after, we will see. Anyways, I just found out about this yesterday, so I don't know all the details yet. I will let you all know more later as I know more. But cannot wait to see you all.

I do see lots of lightly tricked out GA's in town now, in Moncton. I hope some of those that I see will be there.

Remember the first year we did this, it was a beautifull day, the years after that was either cold, rainning, etc. I hope its nice this year.

It doesnt really matter who comes would it? Heh... Cuz my friend is in love with Grand Ams, but he drives a 92 Dodge Spirit lmao its quite funny, cuz he's got an exhaust tip on it, and used chrome spray paint for all the rust spots...

WE had one in the fall in 03 but didn't last year because things just didn't work for everyone. Will probley try for a fall one this year.

Well I am torn right now. At first I didn't think I was gonna be able to make it for financial reasons, but now the more I think about it the more I really want to go to escape for a weekend.

If I can make it financially, and everyone else is going to be going and spending the night I will do it. I would probably come up on Friday and leave Sunday. I think thats what I did last year anyway (correct me if I am wrong).

Only change this year would be my order at the resturant we go to. I think I will skip the Hot Hamburger, and I will have one of you translate the rest of the menu for me.

Understand Kelly, I plan on putting my summer tires back on this weekend and if the weather is not good the weekend of the show all I can say is it will be white but it will not be the GA. :lol:

I'm very tempted to check this out I'm in saint john . not going to drive alone if i can get my buddy to come with me in my car then its pretty much a done deal. how ever nothing beats traveling with a group of cars. that and if my car falls apart all is good..lol drove to Hampton to get a moter mouth last week. thats the most i drove ever..lol how ever the mount and the bracket thats on the engine was busted. probably not the safest but i did know. either way ill talk to my buddy and if i can join in a group of people from saint john Rollin out then I'm set

Well heres a tip, Before coming to a complete stop, put it in Neutral, so it doesnt quit. Since Neutral will rev at higher speeds. If I'm thinking what problem you have, I donno how to fix it, but my buddy does the same thing. Just dont be a tool an jam it into park going like 25 - 30..... What a ride that was. o.o and if you manage to get up here, I sure could use that car on my paintball field as a good bunker. :D

Sounds like it could be the TCC solenoid sticking... The torque Converter doesn't come out of full lockup as you slow down, and as a result stalls the engine. Easiest way to tell is to unplug it and see if you still have the stalling problem. Only downside is that with it unplugged your car will not go into torque converter lockup on the highway, so your engine will rev higher and you will get slighly less fuel economy. Try doing a quick search of the forums, this is a common issue. :)

Just a random question here.... but is it wrong to not trust other places with my car?? Example: Not trusting Canadian Tire for a balance, or oil change even. Or not trusting the dealership to change a tire and balance it? Cuz when I FIRST bought my car, they took it to Taylor Ford (ford dealership obviously, cuz thats where i bought the car, (through a taylor ford owned company) anywho, They added 1 L too much oil, I returned it, they did it again etc etc, Now I went to Crappy tire for a tire balance, and they screwed it up, and then went to Mcdonald pontiac, and they screwed up the balance, and brought it back to a different canadian tire, and they did it alright. I guess. Even though I still get a shake on the highway. o.o I DONT TRUST ANYONE. Grrr. My baby :( I should be posting this elsewhere... but i'm mad.

Mike, that kind of stuff happens all too often. Unfortunatly the only real way to know is through trial and error. Eventually you will find a mechanic you can trust and you will end up taking your car there for everything.

true true.. ill just say is a on going work in progress.. how ever this trip is the make or break for my car. if it makes it there and back with out any trubbles. ill get the car painted. really all it needs is a paint job

sunrunner_pei - these rims arnt that bad i kinda like them. im lookinf for a second set if the price is right for when i get new tires these ones have a lot of weights on them 205 55 16 .. the tires cost sooo much for this strange size and the people at the tire places tell me there not the tires that belong on my car.. till i point out the drivers door calls for them..lol

im going to run out and take an updated pic or 2 of my car and post it.. give me a few mins..

Yeah, those rims were quite rare on the Grand Am.

Cuz yeah. my buddy wants to go to the car show, and i told him to come with me in his Dodge Spirit to the meet, and he's like "its not a grand am" so i told him i'll buy him a permanent marker, so he can cross out Spirit, and put Grand Am. lol

Well guys I went down to look at my car and it's worse than I thought it was. I can't open the rear driver side door and it looks like there is a tent in my trunk. the guy at pontiac and the towing company both said it looks like it's wrote off. guess I'm gonna go looking for a new one now.
