Short version:
Driving 01 GA GT back home from about 30 miles away yesterday and the temperature gage suddenly goes out and drops to zero even though the engine was running at operating temp. Then the check engine light came on.
Took it to local mechanic. Said it was simply the sender/temperature sensor. No real problems. Replaced it and it was $90 total for parts and labor.
Took car home.
Drove it tonight for the first time since it was repaired. Got about twenty miles from home and bang, same thing. Temperature gage went dead and about ten miles later check engine light came on.
I'm assuming something is causing my temp sensor to be destroyed. Does anyone know what it is? I'm assuming that the mechanic will put in a new sensor tomorrow for free since he is a good guy, but if it is just going to blow again what is the point?
