I think my stock speakers have gone bad. It took me a while to realize my aftermarket Sony HU pushed out more power than my stock speakers can handle. After not seeing any on E bay, I got a part number for a new 04+ GA stock HU with Monsson and MP3. The part number is #22724376. GM list price on that is $929.39. Although GMpartsdirect sells it for $464.70, that's still rediculous. I think scraping the entire stock system will be better in the long run.

So there is 1 tweeter and 1 speaker for each front door and the rear deck has 2 speakers and what else?

I've scrapped my whole monsoon system.

We have stock: 2 1" tweeters and 2 4x6" speakers up front, and two two-way 6x9s in the back.

I've got infinity 1" tweets and 6.5" speakers up front (as part of the kappa 60.5 set), and jbl 6x9s in the back (p953s). I also have a JBL LC 504 4-way amp (50watts RMSx4) to power the internal speakers and an infinity BassLink to round out the bass (which, I've been very impressed with). You'll need a headunit that has 3 sets of pre-outs if you want to have front + rear + sub(s) without having to split it somewhere.

How much did it run you total?

Also, did you have to do a lot of modification to fit those components? How does it sound? Monsoon gave me lots of good bass, how does yours compare? Thanks.

Geez, how much did it cost? eek, including headunit, probably around $1,000 or $1,200. The only fabing I had to do was to make the 6.5s fit up front, I had to cut some metal and make a round adaptor plate to act as a spacer. Also, the tweeters would usually require some modding to make work, but I just superglued them in because I got lazy (it was late and I was tired :-p). And while the internal speakers will put out cleaner (and therefore less) bass, any system with a sub will trump the monsoon.
