GM's bad business is bad for my dad too, he works for a power train company, and GM is their biggest customer.. so.. cut offs are going on cuz of GMs falling sales.

Well if they got their heads out of their asses and made some COOL cars like some other companies they wouldnt have this problem. Impala, new monte carlo, hhr, solstice, G6 coupe all = ugly IMO... AND MAKE A CAR WITH A FRICKIN MANUAL TRANSMISSION!

Please dont attack me for that statement... I obviously own a GM and I like it... I just see stuff like this and think that they are capable of avoiding it. Ick... did any of you see the new minivans? Come on...

What GM needs to do is cut back on its production capacity. They make too many cars and then have them sit on dealers lots with heavy discounts and financing. They need to stand up to UAW and make deep cuts. This is the only way that they are going to be able to turn things around.

They're one of the largest health care providers in the U.S. and may have to look to moving production to other countries with nationalized health care of lower standards of living. The days of paying a guy $30 and hour to put windows in a car is over.

I like the new minivans, the new MOntes and Impalas look great, the new G6 looks great, gas mileage is pretty good, and they all are better built, from what iv read, Bob Lutz is a retard who is drivng GM into the ground, you think hes moving way to fast in making new models, usually a car company makes a model on year, then 1-3 years later another model comes out or is redazighned, not freakin half the cars dropped, and some redone, and a bunch of new ones, in practicly the same year!

First of all this story is a complete COMPLETE hoax. Statements were misinterpreted from Lutz. He stated that Pontiac and Buick weren't the focus right now that GM is taking and it was jumped all over and GROSSLY misinterpreted by a story hungry media that the lines were to be killed.

Lutz held a press conference the following day after STUPID stories like this were released.

GM obviously needs to streamline their operations. They need to improve on the vehicles that are selling well and eliminate those that are not.

Isn't Pontiac the strongest seller behind Chevrolet anyhow?

Personally I think they should can GMC since it's brand dilution of chevrolet and nothing else. Of course since it's just rebadged chevrolets it's not like it costs a fortune to rebrand them, but still.

As for Pontiac, they are finally getting things in order. The Solstice fills the group out nicely. I'm torn on the cancelation of the 4 door Grand Am though. It makes sense to have the G6 in it's place and keep the 2 door GA, but is it necesary. I seem to recall 10 years ago when the Lumina / Berreta issue was handled the same way only those cars were the same whereas the G6 is not a Grand Am clone.

The GTO should start selling better now. They let it be know too soon that the next year was going to have better trim and a higher HP rating. Only a fool would buy a car under those terms unless they really hate hood scoops.

If you knew what GTO's were selling for in December of '04 I'm sure you would retract that statement. With incetives and different programs out. They leased out at 187 a month (I know 2 guys that got in on that deal). And could be purchased for about 300, which actually turned out CHEAPER than a Grand Am at the same time. For the price difference I would have saved over an 05 at the time I could have bought the hood, a new rear fascia for the duals, done a full exhaust and superchared the thing.
