Wait a few years my man ..... and see .....
Grand Am just might be back someday ..... perhaps in your lifetime too. :)
Well, the Grand Am DID already come back once.....
but i doubt it.. it was a normal family car, nothing special in that aspect... no reason for them to bring back the name....
the Thunderbird was a sweet car (the new one) and Ford did the retro look...... Dodge even said they just wanted the Charger name for the muscle car appearence.....
You don't see Ford making a Country Squire, Pontiac making a Tempest and Dodge making a Diplomat any more....
it is gone... just like Seville, Eldorado, Fleetwood and DeVille :(

i agree..its not like Grand Am brings to mind a muscle car heritage. its a boring rental to in the minds of most North Americans.
now, i would expect the camaro to return, just like how the GTO did. honestly, i think the monaro should have been brought over as a camaro, and make the GTO a new "from the ground up" car. who knows...maybe they are just using that old platform to establish a GTO program (like corvette) and the are probably working on a domestic redesign for the camaro and the GTO.
Anyway...back on topic again...sorry guys.

Actually it came back twice.
1973-1975 (1st Gen),
returned from hiatus in 1978 to 1980 (2nd Gen),
returned again in IIRC 1985 to 1991 (3rd Gen)
and of course 1992 to 1998 (4th Gen)
and 1999 to 2005 (5th Gen)
and I don't care what anyone says the G6 in my eyes = a 6th Gen GA. (hense "G6")

Maybe to you. I don't think of the GA as a rental car, more of euro family fun in an anti import package.

i think GM should have made the new GTO retro looking, stacked headlights and that kind of thing. i mean im not a big ford person but the new mustang looks sweet. i love the old look and modern tech

They got rid of the GA 4 door sedan for 2005, and just made the 2 door coupe. I believe for 2006 the coupe will be gone also.

I agree. In many ways it is just like the Grand Am. When I am ready for a new car, I am getting a G6 GT.

lol, the 2005 and 2006 Grand Ams, (if they actually sell them still in 06) will be the 04 coupes cars just with a different year on the manufacturers labels and what not... And the G6 is, in my eyes a GA as well, lets just hope that they bring back the GA in years to come, or stick atlreast with its bro, the G6.

The local Pontiac dealer says the G6 is the new Grand Am with just a different name..... thats what they are telling people too.....

I wonder how long the new GTO will last.....ill give it 10 years.
G6=6th Generation Grand Am...despite the fact that Pontiac says it's not. Totally in agreement with TA^Guy.

im sorry to say but there has not been a SINGLE word from GM about the return of the F-Body. and there would have been a word by now if the camaro was to be back in 2007. as much as id like to see it return its not gonna happen in 2007.

Also the Taurus/Sable are gone too. I alway had a thing for the wagons. Get you a gen 4 (2000+) sable wagon 18" rims, dark tint all around and you will have a nice looking auto.

Wagons are my weakness  I'm still waiting on my 82 or 84 (one of them) electra estate wagon, but my god mother will not go out and look for another car. I love the turbine rims on it

I love wagons and can't wait for their comeback and the demise of the SUV. I just dislike the Ford Tarus wagons. Actually the guy I sold my motorcycle too purchased one a few weeks ago and it's deaad already with only like 105k on it. He thinks it maybe the head gasket, and if thats true he's lucky the 3.0 lasted that long. He put it in his driveway and put struts on his GP and is driving that again.

Technically the G6 is the Grand Am as the G6 is the 6th incarnation of the Grand AM. Pontiac originally intended for the G6 concept car to be the next version of the Grand AM for the 2005 model year. Since Pontiac's sales have been slipping over the last few years and GM is threatening to drop them, Pontiac has been trying to rev up sales by bringing out the new Solstice, the GTO, and of course, by renaming the Grand AM to G6 and adding cool features like the more powerful engine, and the panoramic roof.
As for the actual Grand AM name coming back, it's always possible.
