to replace her 95 cougar beater car. It has 59,000 miles, v-6, spoiler, sunroof, cd player, alloys, silver. They want $7000. She wants to try and talk them to to around $5,500-6. What problems should we look for. what price would be a good deal?

I had issues with brakes wearing down real fast on my 99 GT, but they replaced them free for me...

yeah, they like to go out don't they. How much is it to replace if they were to go after? The brakes are completely different aren't they?? Btw Deejay, when did you move to C-bus area? You used to be down in Chilicothe right??

Check out the Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book for your area on that price. Around here, you can get a '01 or '02 for that price.

I did and they both said around 5500 for private party in perfect condition. Then i looked them up on auto trader and found nothing with that low of miles for and a v6 for under 7.

emily didn't have a problem out of her car till it hit 100,000. then the water pump went out (kinda expected), wheel bearings, right axle, brakes (to be expected), rotors are at their limit for being turned, altenator at around 65,000 (but that's because of the stereo), timing chain (since it was off for the water pump), tensioner for the timing chain (it went bad AFTER we had the water pump back in and the car put back together) so if you ever have the timing chain off might as well replace that tensioner while you've got everything tore apart. i think i paid $50 for it, and labor should have been outrageous, but my uncle done the labor for free.


but all in all it's been a good car. i've been pleased with it
