I'm looking at buying a 2002 or 2003 Alero from the GSA -government auto auction. They all have this engine and the automatic transmission. The miles range from 40,000 to 60,000. How many miles do you think this engine is good for? I have a 94 grand am and really it should have been trashed at around 90,000 miles when I started having trouble. Also what opinions in general do you have about this car and/or the GSA if you are familiar with it?
Basically I just want to know what I will have to fix in the next 50,000 miles.

Thanks!

well my friend has a 2002 alero and it is almost the same thing as the 99+ GA's....same engine and same problems...the interior isn't as cool nor is the styling, but that is just my opinion. the window regulator's have problems and are expensive. and of course the manifold gasket....again same things as ga...they are a little slower stock to stock too

I didn't think that the manifold gasket was a problem on Ecotech's.
Just Curious..
