I currently host a discount Honda and Ford accessories website - but our dealership also sells Chevrolet and can get parts for all other GM cars. But do people really even buy the GM accessories? Most of the grand am stuff i have seen is aftermarket. Would it be worth it at all to start a discount gm genuine accessories website? Would any of you be interested in buying? I'm not trying to advertise, i just would like to find out if there is any consumer market for this type of stuff, if i would be wasting my time and money or not. Thanks.

What accessories? I don't think replacement floor mats and trunk cargo nets really interest people.

Right, there isnt a whole lot besides the floor mats, trunk trays, front end covers. The occasional grille, chrome exhaust tip, and wheels.

I think a genuine GM S/C would sell, for a discount. That's on MY wish list.

The full SC/T is however very large and hard to ship.

when paying 3 grand for a SC the 100 to ship it is doable.

They aren't made anymore. Inventories are being eliminated. Considering the kit originally went for $4000-5000, I doubt it can be discounted any more than it already is. Pace Performance has em for $2,200 with $30 shipping... I doubt anyone can compete with that. (maybe GMpartdirect... if they didn't charge 20% shipping on a $1999 item)

Not really. 48 lbs... approx 36" wide x 16" tall x 16" deep
Cost me about $30 via UPS ground.

No, nobody really sticks to stock anymore,
its all about aftermarket parts.

Indeed, i thought you meant the SCT hood. Also yeah, GM just is weak in the accessories area. They really kill themselves with that. For the non-racer market it seems people love to buy genuine Honda accessories though, i dont know why. There are just as many GM cars out there. I guess its just not that type of market.

On the Honda accessories, do they void the Honda warranty? If not, that'd be a really good reason to pick their parts over aftermarket parts.

The problem is they just don't MAKE anything. Sure, if you have a Camaro or a Corvette you can get some stuff, but if you have a "lowly" Grand Am you can get some overpriced floor mats. Whoopdy do.

Honda sells more stuff because they make things for all of their cars. Personally, if I were going to do up my car, i'd WANT all Genuine GM Performance Parts....but....they don't really make anything for my car.

^Thing is, they did and nobody bought it. Again I'm referring to the GM 2.4 supercharger. Even with all the J-body guys it didn't sell well. Everything needed in the kit, warranty on the SC and engine!

if you can get gm parts like the LT4 Hot cam and other stuff like that, you could sell a ton to us V8 RWD guys.

Good point. I goes with the market, I guess. There's no shortage of Corvette, Camaro, Trans Am, etc. parts. It goes with the general American feeling that if it's not a sports car, it's worthless. Which....in many ways I agree with. I'm not particularly fond of tuner cars. I'd rather have something that's fast out of the box than have to make it fast. But with an American car....it's almost not even an option.

Id be interested in buying the 95 GT rims from GM directly, I love those things. The 3 spoke = LAME.

The parts manager at the local Poncho dealer told me that I was the first guy that came in looking for speed parts on a 3400. He only knows that people fix up the 4s and the 3800s.
