I just saw this on partsforyourcar.com.

It says it helps dampen the rattling. But how much do you really think it helps with 2 10" JLw3s in the back? Just curious b/c I'm hoping to get some dynamat xtreme soon and just wondering if anyone has this mat in their trunk and whether it helps with rattling or not. Also, how difficult is it to install dynamat xtreme in the trunk yourself? I'm debating whether to pay someone or just do it myself.

ok so the link won't copy correctly. but if you go to www.partsforyourcar.com and go to 99-04 Grand ams and click "what's new" you'll find the trunk mat for the lid of the trunk

Ah do it yourself! Its easy! If you can cut to form around shapes, then you got it made! Its 1st grade stuff basically.

did you all who installed the dynamat yourself use the little roller thing? or just lay it in there?

roller thingy. if you just lay it on there the dynamat wont work as well. it has to be sticking to the metal in order to stop the vibrations. i dont doubt it would cut them down if it's just suspended in the air, but it really needs to be stuck to the metal

Not personally, but i've installed them both. eDead sticks, and holds so much better than dynamat, and you don't need a heat gun to apply it.
Plan on about 10-15sq. ft. for the trunk lid, and 20-30sq. ft. for the rest of the trunk.
