I'll admit right off the top I'm not a grand am expert, but I could tell you all you need to know about a J body, lol
I searched and read the FAQ's in this forum and didnt get everything answered so here I go:
I have a sunbird and I'm looking at puting on some bigger brakes and rear discs. I was thinking of swaping on the front and rear brakes from a grand am with rear discs and I have a few questions:
My J-body has a bolt pattern of 5x100 I know GA's had 5x100 until 98 when they switched to 5x115.
What year did the Grand am start using rear discs?
What size are the rotors on the front and back?
Do you see any problems with this swap? Like lower ball joint being a diffrent size or something? I'm hoping for the front its just as easy as undoing the lower ball joint and the two bolts attaching teh spindle to teh strut and swaping over the spindles and all teh brakes stuff attached to it.
As for the rear, I havent looked into that to much yet, can you help me out there at all. I will swap on the 5x115 hub if i have to, I was originally thinking of using W body brakes (grand prix) cause of there 11" front rotors and factory 16" rims that I like and was thinking of keeping for the car.
Any help sugestions or opinions greatly apreciated.
thanks in advance

grand am brakes were rear drums until the bolt pattern switched
i myself am trying to find a disc brake setup for my 97 rear brakes
so you would have to go all out and switch hubs

otherwise good luck to you
trying it myself is getting old
