I guess you can say I'm happy :)

My first car being a 93 grand am se, second a 92 se, and now my third car: a 2002 VW Golf GLS. Navy blue, It's a 5speed, and a fun little car. I LOVE it. I know it's not a 1.8turbo GTI, but it kicks better then my grand am, that's for sure.

The Grand Am is beaten up, I say it's work 200-300 bucks. Tomorrow is the last day it's insurred and tomorrow is the last day it sits in my driveway. I haven't decided yet but I'm either giving it to a friend or donating it (nice tax return).

No exterior pics yet, some dull interior pics for now. The seats and carpets are a niceeee white/beige. VERY bright. I will be getting seat covers and such to keep them that way. More pics tomorrow:

Cheers, it's been fun. I'm sure I'll continue to post now and then as you guys are very friendly and seem to care and have good advice which I will come for when I decide on rims and all the toys. (I'm not that recognizeable here, but anyways, hopefully someone knows me somewhat)

Planned:
Mac Mini with 7" touch screen in-dash system
rims
tint

finished. (probably) I say that now
:D

Nice, nice. I love th einterior of that car, and the shifter. I wanted a GTI, thats the only way id drive that car! But its nice, and quirky with the tach reading in tens, whoa. Hows the gas mileage/maintenance on that car?

Gas mileage is something like 27mpg I believe.

I also got a 2 year bumper to bumper for free because he said it was covered for 18 months still under factory, and it only had 8 months. So he fixed that up, out the door for 11,600.

I know it's not a GTI, but today I was able to go on the free-way to E-check it and all, it went nicely. ALOT faster then my grand am. I realize it's not as fast as an Eclipse or even most honda civics, but it's quick off the line and once it's going and when I shift well, I would be 50+ feet ahead of a 92 grand am SE easily. This thing isn't slow at all and jumps when I hit the gas. A 1.8t did roar past me but I caught up and said hello. I don't do the street racing thing, I'm not going to lose my license over something so silly but I do like to have fun. :)

:)

As for ther grand am, I talked to my friends mom and told her she can have it for him when he gets his license. I told her she can either sell it for 2-300 and pay for his drivers ed and license costs, or junk it TODAY for 100 dollars, or keep it and pay for the title and such. I've done a few good deeds this year. :)

So, you know that every ricer kid and his little brother are gonna want to rice you now that you drive that thing, right? The street races and incessant honda revs aren't far behind. Just you wait.
But I love the car, its so shiny!!

Cars have pulled up beside me a couple times. Sometimes I "race" them... until I'm 5-10 above the speed-limit then slow down and let them do their thing and get pulled over.. Depends where it is too. I know my car isn't fast but it's a LOW end "performance" car (same car without the engine). It's like buying a 350z and dropping a 2 liter 4cylinder engine in it, people are going to think it's fast but it's no faster then a honda.. I just went to play a little pool and my buddies in a 6 speed 04 or 05 accord with turbo were teasing me, but I never went more than 75, and I let someone else race them. I went around them after the off ramp and turned my rear-wind shield whiper on when I got infront of them (kinda like shaking a booty at them)

It's a FUN car to drive reguardless. It feels like I just got my license again. I get all bitchy when I'm on a hill and have to shift really fast or roll into someone behind me who keeps moving forward when I'm able to push a foot or 2 forward to give me room to roll back. So my tires spin a lot but I don't do it because I'm an idiot.

I've always loved VW, and would choose this car over any chevy, honda or ford anyday and I'm happy I bought it. Thanks for the comments. :)

edit: Not sure what to do first but I may or may not buy rims. If I buy rims I would want get 17's and drop the car or buy 18's. I can't drop the car because of my driveway, so I might just forget rims and do audio for now and sometime in a few months, get the Mac-mini setup in there. Will be a nice project.
