When you bought your GA where'd you get it and do you think you got your money's worth. Well since I bought mine I've had to do the Lim gasket fix. Replaced both tie rod ends and lower ball joints and the left bearing hub but now the allignment is straight and smooth. Replaced 3 fo my 4 original tires. had to rewire both door speakers. patched the infamous passenger floorboard leak. and a new cig lighter. I still have to replace the egr valve (only passed by 3 points and is giving a code 75 76 and 77). and have to rewire the driver door one more time. and the skin on the nose below the left fog light is split (summer job). But she purrs like a kitten and roars down the road. I think I got my money's worth for a $610 ebay special I hauled down from Oklahoma city!

sticker was 14, I paid 9 (less than invoice). Did LIM, but that was under warranty, otherwise just front brakes and tires.

My parents paid 7 three years ago for mine. One ball joint went bad, a leaky window, and something with the ETS. Nothing else the car itself caused, just what stupid people do to it (IE the $2,100 break in).

sticker: $25k
paid: $17k
well, my parents did...
and before you guys say that I'm spoiled, I'd like you to know that me and my brothers are planning a nice gift back to my parents once we are graduated (me being an engineer, one a doctor, and then another whos still in middle school) for everything they've done for us.

The sticker was 8999 and I paid 6500 in Feburary of 2004 it had just under 65000 on her and all I had to do to it was brakes and the right tie rod end about a year later. Not too bad I think.

I paid too much. Haven't had too many problems in the past 2 years except LIM and some small things that happened in a short period of time.

I bought mine from our Chevrolet dealership. It was a leased vehicle from the states. It was originally $16,500. They were having a special on all the leased Grand Ams that came up from the states. So I got it for $13,900. Plus they bought my Cougar for more than they should have. They were going to buy it for $8,100 trade in but they upt it to $9,250. I dont know, maybe Im special. Needless to say I got a very good deal on the grand am. I have free oil changes from Lithia as long as I own the car.

I got mine for less than 1-grand with 65,000 miles on it. Whoever traded in this puppy for that is a moron. I havent had to fix anything other than replacing an alternator.
That means all my money has been able to go into making her look pretty.
I got my moneys worth 10 times over.

bought it off a guy for 8300 CAN, he was asking 9000 but he thought the LIM gasket was leaking , but thank god it wasn't. Got a good deal i thought considering the car was a 99 with only 60,000 miles on it.

95 - $6,700 in 1/2000 with 43K. 100,000 miles and 5 PSI of boost later, I don't think I will ever find another car that has been so good to me. Other than a few small common electrical probs (combo switch, intermittent VSS, rear defogger tab, low oil level sensor), everything that ever broke was a direct result of my abuse. (CV joint = launched too hard/wheelhop racing; alternator(s) = stereo system)
94 - $2,500 in 7/2003 with ~97K miles. 133K now. Only needed to replace a rotted brake line and 1 shift cable. Good deal IMO, used to commute 100 miles / day to work. It's the ultimate beater. :D

I know the sticker on my car said 10k. Mom got it down to 9k. She got my car in Aug. 2002. Had about 32k on it.

5k and it's still under warranty
I think I got a fair deal. Numbers at this point are irrelevant. I didn't get a screaming bargain, but I didn't pay too much, either. And I know the dealer made money, so he was happy, too.

I bought my 92 GA in August 2000 for $3000 and the guy paid to have my stereo taken out of my old car and put into the GA. When I got it there were only 42k miles on her. When she was totalled in feb. 04 she had 96k. Never had any real problems with her. Loved the car. Sometimes I still miss her, but i LOVE my cavy. :D

I bought my car almost exactly 1 year ago, a 97 SE with literally 99,999 miles on it when I got it for $2,000. Since then, it's been one massive money pit. The dealership fixed a bunch of stuff when I almost threw it through their window when I brought it home (failed inspection for all sorts of stuff), i've done the LIM, two coolant leaks, cracked radiator, needed new front struts, oh yeah, and best of all......crusing down the Highway doing maybe 70mph, MY F'ING WHEEL FELL OFF. That's right...fell...off. The front passenger side wheel just tore away the studs clean off the rotor assembly....and I watched as my wheel rolled down a 4 lane highway without me. Luckily I didn't DIE. I just happened to be in the right lane too, so I just sort of fell onto the shoulder. So, they had to fix that whole thing. I've just recently noticed when looking at my drivers side wheel that one of the studs apparently fell off too. I've defiantly put more into fixing the car than I paid for it. Oh yeah, I forgot....one of the knobs on my HVAC controls fell off too.
Great worksmanship, Pontiac!
That being said; I like this car. I really do. If it wasn't such a flaming peice of junk, i'd LOVE this car. I want to mod this car, but i'm not sure if it's worth spending the money on......and it doesn't matter anyway, because anytime I save some sort of money, it goes into fixing something that broke.

'03 GAGT SC/T Coupe ~ I bought mine in Dec. of '04 with 17,500 miles on it for $14,995. It's fully loaded so I didn't mind the price. The dealership I got it from obviously ripped whoever traded it in (for an Aveo mind you!) So far all I've had to do were front breaks and the stupid blower motor resistor. All in all def happy with this car so far!
'97 GASE Coupe ~ I bought my first Grand Am in April of '02 with 117,000 miles on it for $4,000. At the time I thought it was a good deal, but after the first oil change I discovered the shady ass used car guy that sold it to me knew it had a scratched main bearing and put motor honey in the oil to quiet it. So needless to say within a few hundred miles of the oil change the motor went out. Luckily I was able to find a motor out of a '97 Monte Carlo with 45,000 miles on it for $500. Took a week but swapped the motors and went on my way. After that I replaced the entire front break setup (twice), alternator, water pump, head gaskets, numerous missing trim pieces, and the battery. I gave it to a family friend in Jan '05 and it's been running fine for them so far.

I bought my GA brand new in July of '03 for $15,500 + tax, tags, title, and extended warranty... still paying it off and I'm doing my 36k oil change today. My interest rate is a killer though, I really need to get around to refianancing it.....
I've had a bunch done under warranty... rotors resurfaced twice, both front windows replaced, and some other stuff that they probally shouldnt have done. I love my dealership, if somethin breaks either they'll do it or they'll walk outside and throw the part in the back of my car and tell me to have fun. :)

Within a month I had to fix both a major coolant leak and a gasoline leak.
Yeahhh definately not worth it.

Ok, i got my 97 GA GT with 85,000 miles about 18 months ago. I paid $3000. Look up the prices, its still worth more than that with 100,000 miles.
Only work i ever had done was new front rotors, and a self installed alternator and serpentine belt.
Def worth it.

Grand am- sticker on mine new was $23k got it for $20K out the door. we were lucky enough to talk to a regional sales rep cus all the salesmen were busy, so she hooked us up. if the deal wasnt that good we might have gotten something else.
old 88- free from my grandmother who has altztheimers. no she didnt give it to me in her bad state of mind, my dad was left with a choice to either sell it or keep it when we sold her house. with under 20K miles, but a 97, its worth less to sell than it is to keep and for me to use as a daily driver.

I got mine for free from my uncle a couple years ago before I went to college. Had 161k on it already then, plus some dents and major passenger side quarter panel damage. A little push on the quarter and a lot of bondo later it looked like a good half ass job. Had problems with the power locks...a rubber piece was shot on the lock/latch mechanism, and ended up using superglue: Still Works! Replaced all but one wheel bearing/hub, fuel pump, water pump, alternator, plugs, hoses, front control arm bushings, ball joints, and looks like this weekend I will be flushing the radiator. Doesn't burn oil yet and I'm close to the 200,000 mile mark. Good mileage out of her yet!

I bought mine June 04 with 11,000 miles for 18,500, with all finance charges included. All I've done so far is a brake job, and of course all the oil changes, etc. All in all, I feel I got a real good deal.

3550 for my 97GT, bought it on feb 2nd, 92000 miles exactly. Now has 93546 exactly, has been sitting for a month, a lifter on the exhaust cam broke clean off. Lets just say that getting to the cam of a LD9 is not as fun as you would think. I still got a good deal on the car, I'll just be a lot happier when it runs again.

I bought my '03 almost a year ago to the day, used of course. I paid $17,000 I think, plus I paid for rust proofing, scotchguard, etc. so it came close to $19k total.
The car is now worth $11,500 according to the canadian black book. I've made $5600 in payments, so I currently owe about $1900 more on it than what its worth if I sold it. I guess thats not THAT bad... but I wish I'd paid less for it originally.
I have the april 15th canadian black book if anyone wants to know the current value of their car (98 or newer), need to know if it has a 6 or a 4, sunroof or not, auto or manual, leather or not, gt or se, etc..
