Basically there is a scale of spectrum of light from one end to the other (1500k (warm) being on one end and 12000k (cool) on the other). Basically it's like a temperature scale. The higher the number, the more cool or blue the light will be. If you click on the link provided in the first post you will see the example of the different kelvins of light. Hope this helps :)

I dont understand this "kit" business. Im guessing that you are buying more than just new bulbs because the stock sockets probably dont have enough power to run these bulbs right? Do you have to do major mods to your wiring to install these? does anyone have these installed that can shed some light on this for those of us who dont understand what is going on here! Thanks!

Dig a little bit guys... :) http://www.xenonking.com/installation.htm

Here is the "kit" It runs on something like 35 or so watts which stock bulbs are about 55 watts but the output is 3x better with HID lighting. The life of the bulb tends to last longer since it runs cooler. They come with a one year replacement warranty if I am not mistaken by his site.
http://www.xenonking.com/images/installpartws.jpg
The higher up in Kalvin the more dim the light will be. Our eyes focus on different color spectrums and we tend to see real well in the 5000K-6000K range which is a crisp white output. The 8000K is still real visible to the human eye and puts out a bluish hue. Anything above that we see as dim because we can really focus on it. the 10000K is getting real blue (more UV ray style) and the 12,000K is purple and looks almost as if you stuck a flashlight out the window because we have a hard time with that high up on the color spectrum.

well heres a couple of questions bwfore we get started. have they ever been tested on a grand am before? has there ever been a problem with the wires burning out? how much is a replacement bulb if one happens to go out? how many do we need for a group buy?how many of the same kit have to be ordered?
XenonKing.com
04-10-2005, 09:17 AM
We have sold to MANY grand am's before and I was never reported of any problems with any wires burning out. We have a 1 year waranty that covers if a bulb is to go out, but if it happens after the warranty period, I will discount the bulbs for you as well, just let me know that you are from ths group buy, I have everything on record after our group buys happen. I have no minimums in orders because we have never had a bad turnout ratio in our 2 years in business of doing group buys on forums. We are currently on 5 other forums and the turnout was great, so hopefully it will be the same here.

Does this kit work for more than one car, or is it vehicle specific.
basically, if someone buys them for a grand am and sells it and buys another car, can they plug and play with the other car or are we just out the money for the HID lights? can adapters be bought in such instances....i mean putting 300+ bucks into a lighting system a person would probably want them for a long time right?
XenonKing.com
04-12-2005, 07:23 PM
Pontiac, you can transfer the HID kit into another car if the bulbs are the same size. If the bulbs are different, you can still use the same ballasts but you would need the correct bulb size to fit a particular car.
Anyone plan on useing Projectors with these? Or just blinding oncomming traffic?

One more question that I can't find the answer to. It looks like the bulb slides in to the stock housing on the car. That would mean you are using the same metal projector that you use with regular halogen bulbs, correct?
Also I hear the one year warranty, but is that the expected life of the bulb? I thought HID bulbs were supposed to be extremly long lifed.
XenonKing.com
05-16-2005, 07:08 PM
The warranty does not mean that the bulb lasts only one year. That is just company policy and nothing to do with how long the bulbshould last (which should be a lot longer than your current halogen bulbs.)
The answer to the first questioins is correct, they would use the same metal projector as the halogen bulbs. Let me know if there is anything els eI can help you with
Customized
06-24-2005, 06:33 AM
*BUMP* So the way I take this conection is you plug one oend of your HID kit into the stock harness for the power, then simply slide the HID bulbs into where the original stock halogens were?? And another question is I thought the higher the Kelvin K the brighter the light, but apparently the 12k bulbs aren't as bright as say 8k??
Matt
XenonKing.com
06-24-2005, 06:56 PM
you are absolutely right, thats how easy the installation really is.
The lower the K(kelvin) value teh brighter the actualy white light, so the 5000K would be the brightest light.

how does it stay in the metal projector? if it just slides in it would seem like it would move around and maybe bust on bumpy roads.... just wondering how it's kept in place.
i'm considering the 6k kit. 6k is blueish right and 8k is bluer? 5k is white correct?

9006 stock connector ----> ballast/ingitor -----> to another size bulb then 9006, say H1?

Will these melt the stock head lights, i remember i bought some cheap ebay bulbs for my fog lights and they melted the housings, can this happen to your headlights to with these kits?

Please don't buy from this company. There customer service is terrible. I accidently broke a small metal clip on a wire coming off of the ballast during the install. I asked them to send me a clip and they won't. They want me to pay $139.99 for a new ballast when I don't need one, just the clip. You can find McCulloch kits on plenty of other sites for the same price. Please don't waste your money with this terrible company. Thanks.

1st, why dont you stop bad nouthing a company especially when you try to LIE TO THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
XenonKing.com
09-12-2005, 08:40 PM
you email us saying that someone told you that you were getting free clips and other parts for your vehicle, when NO ONE HAS EVEN TALKED TO YOU ON THE PHONE.
Then you asked for just the free metal clips and someone wrote you an email (and I have the copy of the emailright in front of me, let me know if you want it and it will show the time and date that it was written on.)
It was your fault that your broke the plugs and now your DEMANDING free replacement parts, have the common sense not to lie about it when you email us, we stand tight by our policy and if all you need are the clips, we would have gave them to you. once again no one would charge you $140 for freakin clips.
But when you try to lie to people, there4 is no way that I can help you. Now if you want to find out the truth about our company, you can search us up on yahoo or google and look at all of the things that real people say about us, not some guy who messed up his own installation, lying to us that we promised him something for free. ALL YOU HAD TO DO IS REALLY ASK!!!
1st Disciple
09-13-2005, 08:42 AM
The clip was stuck in the black plastic connector at first. I got it out after I sent the first two emails. I found a clip that would work at an auto parts store. The kit is hooked up and working now. You can go ahead and say I'm lying, but I did to talk to someone at customer service at your company. They didn't ask my name and told me to just send an email for free clips and connectors. They just must of wanted to shut me up when I called. I called on Fri Sept 9th sometime after 5pm. I talked to the same guy twice, then he transfered me to someone who told me to just send an email. I'm not lying, your the one who is. Hopefully everyone will believe the consumer before the company. Oh and to let everyone know, once they found out I just needed a clip after a bunch of emails they did offer to help.
XenonKing.com
09-13-2005, 10:10 PM
"Hopefully everyone will believe the consumer before the company"
As I've mentioned before, you can search us on any search engine and get reviews about us from MANY consumers who have been very happy as opposed to one lying consumer trying to get something for free. Also, everyone in the company has access to emails and we reply to ALL of our emails within a one hour response rate, so we never left the subject alone and always got back to you via email. Again, it was your fault with the installation, so on behalf of our company we are doing you a favor of giving you anything for free, but we definitly hate people who try to bad mouth people when they want something for free and they dont get itl.
1st Disciple
09-14-2005, 06:33 PM
Well say whatever you want. People are going to believe whatever they want. It seems that someone from your company doesn't want to admit they told me they would give me these free parts. I really don't care. Why the hell would I make up some big story just to get some cheap plastic connecters and metal clips. Keep saying I'm lying, I don't care, I know the truth and thats all I've been telling is the truth. People know about your company now, so why don't you just stop posting on the grand am owners club when you don't even own a grand am.

09-14-2005, 07:28 PM
since the grand am uses to different bulbs, one for low beams and one for high, then you need to buy two kits right?

09-14-2005, 08:05 PM
question about the 9007 kit. Lets say i get the 6000k series, and the bulb burns out after warranty, can I buy the replacement bulbs because i heard that you can't get any and the DS2 (i think thats the name) bulbs are too big to fit into the headlights. I know nothing about HID's just as a reference.
XenonKing.com
09-14-2005, 09:18 PM
urweak, if you want to use xenons for bohth low and hi beams then you would need two kits, most people dont usually put xenon lights on their hi beams bevasue the low beams will be bright as is.
Hodge, your information is a little skewed. First off if a bulb burn out you CAN just buy a set of replacement bulbs and they will fit right in. D2S bulbs are bulbs for cars that already come with HID kis like many of the new luxury cars (they carry D2S or D2R bulbs)

I belive that the DRL's on atleast my year car run off the high beam bulbs, thats why i was wondering. Also i guess the same could be said for Fog lights too, you owuld need another kit for those as well.

installed my kit last week... everything works great! Very happy with the level of customer service and quality of the kit. I would recommend to everyone that they take the time to research how to properly install them before trying to do it yourself. I ended up making a custom wiring harness w/ a relay, and fuse for each balast and a direct connection to the batt. so I don't risk frying my stock wiring :)

yes they do, so when you install the kit you won't have DRL's anymore. I dunno if you will throw a code... I disabled my DRL's so it's not a problem I had. I know you will need a relay'd wiring harness. On my 99 the lights fired when I hooked up the battery and the harness solved it :)

I thought that it increases to a point and then decreases. Not because of the actual light output but because human eyes are more sensitive to a certain colour temperature of light, meaning you see better at a higher colour temperature than lower. Of course if you keep going higher the eye's sensitivity goes down again...
If that isn't true and it simply decreases as colour temperature increases why would HID lighthing ever have been invented?

HID lights sit at 6k, the colors beyond that are acheived by paints, salt treatments, or voltage alterations.
Past 6k youre getting into blue white lights instead of white blue lights.
Im just saying, if you want it that deep of a blue, go for it, but much past 6k its going to make it harder to see and more blue
Always IMHO btw
DontPassTheFence
11-02-2005, 04:02 PM
I agree, past 6K is nigh-useless to the human. with that being said... Im still too poor to afford some of these lights XD

I'll be getting me a kit once I get my stuff out of the way(tires for rims and new front bumper)
As for the light output, the reason the blue doesn't do well is because it doesn't reflect off surfaces as well, thats why these Hyperwite bulbs suck in the fog or rain.
