View Full Version : Here's a question for you all......
Not exactly cleaning of a GA but a good question by my Dad tonight
his 92' GMC Sierra's headlights have that loverly yellowish fade to them, what can he use to clean them up, he recalls some product strictly for such a purpose but cannot recall its name
Some sort of plastic wax or something??
Any thoughts?

for plastic headlights - i recommend meguiar's PlastX ... apply and buff off a couple times and it shoudl do the trick.
Yep picked it up, made a huge difference just after one use, did my driving lights on the ga and my headlights too didnt think they needed it but still made a huge difference! Dad is goign ot do a few coats on his lenses but they look a hell of alot better for sure

The yellowish haze is usually on the outside of the lens where it sees the most road grit and gets a sandblast effect, and also sees alot of dirt.
Usually a wetsand with a high grit number sandpaper (2000 grit and higher) and then a buffing with a plastic compound such as plasticX works pretty well.
If the haze is on the inside of your lights, then there isn't much you can do since 1995 had the fluting on the inside, unlike the 1996+

PlastX via PC, or any other polish works good too. They cleaned up the ones on our '91 quite good, and brought back the tails too:

with me my headlights will not come clean. i tried toothpaste first, then yesterday i bought plastx and tried it just now over and over - no help. so i got rubbing compound out and tried it, and still no help at all. i know its on the outside because i can feel it if i slide my nails over it. its not really yellow but it is like a white/see through glaze from the top half up. if anyone can tell me what to do it would be appreciated, and just fyi i dont know anything about wet sanding or anything. and how would i go about taking apart my headlights to make sure its not in there? thanks
