View Full Version : 99+ V6 Grand Am Cold Air Intake Group Buy Going On Now!

***PLEASE READ THIS POST CAREFULLY***

I am pleased to announce that I am offering a one time group purchase for my cold air intake kits. For those that have no idea who I am, I used to be a GA owner and I also used to be a paying contributor to this site. I made cold air intakes as a side gig. Many members of this board are running them in their cars. I was wondering if the newer members would be interested in a group purchase provided that there is a demand for them. Speak up if your interested. Unfortunately its only for 99+ V6 GA's. It will also work in the Olds. Alero with the V6.

I use 3" polished aluminum tubing with your choice of silicone couplers (red, blue, can get yellow and black but supplies are not always readily available). I use stainless steel clamps and a K&N Inverted end cone filter. The filter sits inside the fender well, away from road debris but ready to breathe plenty of air. The HP benefits have never been verified, but the "a$$" dyno never lies and there is a noticeable difference.

Many members are currently running these kits in their cars.

OK everyone here is the scoop. If I can get committed orders for either the complete CAI kit and/or the CAI kit w/out a filter here are the price breakdowns.

3 orders:
Complete Kit: $160 + $15 shipping to US ($20 to Canada)
Kit w/out filter: $105 + $10 shipping to US ($15 to Canada)

5 orders:
Complete Kit: $155 + $15 shipping to US ($20 to Canada)
Kit w/out filter: $100 + $10 shipping to US ($15 to Canada)

7+ orders:
Complete Kit: $150 + $15 shipping to US ($20 to Canada)
Kit w/out filter: $90 + $10 shipping to US ($15 to Canada)

I am setting the deadline for response to next Friday, April 15th 2005. I only want members to commit to this if they are 100% sure that they will be able to pay. The deadline for payment is the Friday following, on April 22, 2005. I am only accepting Money Orders as methods of payment.

Once Friday April 15th has arrived, I will tally up the total number of committed orders and set the prices from that point by following the cost break-down mentioned above.

From that point, you must print this GROUP BUY ORDER FORM (http://home.comcast.net/~krichards1015/Group_Buy.html) and mail that with your payment.

To commit an order, please do so by sending me an email to: krichards1015@comcast.net
Please include your GAOC screen name, your full name, and the type of kit that you intend to purchase along with the color of couplers you desire. Again, the deadline for response is April 15, tax day and only if you are 100% committed to buying!

If I feel that I have left anything out I will add to this. I only ask that you follow this process so I can handle orders efficiently. Spread the word about this offer! It will be over quick, and I'm not sure when it will happen again. Thanks everyone!!

~Keith

Ishan, are you going to Westfield State College now? I thought I saw you/your car there. Plus I heard it leave and I knew it wasn't stock.

2 questions:

These seem kind of expensive to me. Why do you charge so much for them?

Is there much of a difference between a CAI and a Ram Air?

I realize that this buy is over, but I just saw the thread and was curious about the above...

1. The tubing is aluminum, not cheap. If you try to purchase all the parts yourself, you'll find it will cost you just as much. Also, because he can and people will buy them.

2. Use the search feature of this forum, that topic has been covered too many times to start another thread about them

Damn! I REALLY need to visit more often if I had've known this was being done, I would have got in on it :(

LMK if you can hook another group(or other individuals ;) ) can get one of these sweet setups!

Good work.

/\the 3100 tb is at a different angle than the 3400s, but I'm pretty sure if you have some basic tools and wrench-turning skills you can make it fit.

I have some funds set aside for one, I'll have enough in a week. (purchased the KN filter you told me you use on them so thats why it's taking a the week).

ChevelleSSLS6
10-08-2005, 04:40 PM
perhaps we need to do some PMing/advertising to the guys who are asking on the engine mods about intake systems. *hint hint*

I'll get one.

One question, is there any modding that needs to be done to make it fit?

ChevelleSSLS6
10-09-2005, 09:05 PM
Kyle, if you want to be 110% sure, send a PM to Red99GAGT, as far as I know, I do not think there is any modification involved.

Red99GAGT
10-10-2005, 08:56 AM
The only modification you have to do is remove the stock intake. No cutting involved.

ChevelleSSLS6
10-12-2005, 12:08 AM
/\see, it's much better than a civic cai...
no cutting and why use something designed to supply a 1.6L sedated hamster with air over something better?

BTW- I got a KN cone filter, the PN you (Red99GAGT) gave me a while back, it's better, especially 3000+rpm, can't wait for the CAI (I don't need a filter)

I know the for sale section gets a lot more traffic than the group buys, so maybe I should post something there...? Or PM more people!:)

Import_Sound
10-12-2005, 02:06 PM
PMed you with some Q's Red99GAGT, so im waiting. I would rather pay with paypal though.

ChevelleSSLS6
10-12-2005, 09:35 PM
I like the idea of paying with paypal also, the faster you get the $$ the faster you can get them shipped out, the faster we can get rid of our crappy airboxes.

InsaneSkippy
10-12-2005, 10:05 PM
I too would prefer Paypal. MUCH easier for me.

So should we get a list of people?

I'd be down for a blue one.

sunfirejoe

i as well no need for a filter though, i knwo im new but still

Import_Sound

And i still haven't got a reply :(

ok, here's my list so far...

ChevelleSSLS6 ~black couplers please, no filter~

*probably/maybe*
Creative Mayhem <I'm guessing he'll make it fit one way or another, tb angle is a little different and some little things but I think it wouldn't be that bad to make it fit.
ImportSound <I don't understand his lighting question but this is a cai not lights we're talking about here. If your car is red I'd go with red, just a suggestion.

Prices (as of last production run)

Kit w/out filter: $90 + $10 shipping to US ($15 to Canada)

so, now that we know the prices, unless they've changed, the question is up to Red99GAGT if he's going to do this production run, or if we need more people involved, or what.

Import_Sound
10-13-2005, 10:35 PM
ChevelleSSLS6 i know its CAI not lights. Just im putting lights in/around my car and i don't know what color yet.

I'll get one for sure, and ill go with red couplers though. To make it easy.

Now if only Red99GAGT would post in here lol.

Sorry guys I've been out of town for a few days for my company and didn't have access to a computer.

Import_Sound-I'm not sure what you mean by if I 'include that ribbed piece', but I totally replace it with the aluminum tubing.

I have several reasons for only using money orders:
1. If someone backs out after they have sent me money, it is much easier to refund them the money.
2. It is much easier for me to track each individuals order.
3. To avoid Paypal fees...I'm not making much money off of these anyways, just look at what the other companies are charging for the same product and you'll understand why.

Chevelle-I'm going to need actual committed names. When someone says they are "in until 5 people pay" is the reason why these group buys don't always work. Either your in or not. I'm not trying to be mean but just trying to make it easier for everybody.

I will start a new thread. From now on please direct all questions and comments to the new thread. And as always, feel free to ask questions.
