well today i washed my car and i found a scratch on my front bumper, after i cried for a sec i noticed that the break dust would'not come off my chrometechs fo anything....so i went to autozone and got some ammor-all chrome cleaning wipes, i tried that and the break dust wouldn't budge. The car was built october 2002, so there is only 4 months there, and i wash it every 3rd day, but the break dust just builds up and the old wont come off. Any suggestions?

Damn, slam on your breaks much? I bought my car used about a month ago and can still get mine perfectly clean, I scrubbed mine with a toothbrush. =x

Just a note to everyone,

Do not use any wheel, aluminum, or alloy polishes on the plastic chrometechs. You'll end up with fine scuff marks on the chrometechs.

I don't know why your brake dust won't come off. After I dry the car off I wipe the wheels clean. Thats the best part about these plastic chrometechs is they wipe clean and can be washed with windex. When I'm going to shows or out cruising I just mist some Z6 on them and off I go.

I use Meguiar's All Wheel Cleaner on my chrome factory's and it works the best out of anything I tried. It will eat off break dust no problem.

Is it called Meguiars Hot Rims? It says it's safe for all rim types and it takes the brake dust right off of mine. It says you dont need to scrub (I think) but I just use a 100% cotton mit and put some elbow grease into it and it works great.

After you get them good and clean, put a good coat of wax on them too....doing this often (weather permitting of course) will make them much easier to clean.

Try the "Never-Dull" cotton swabs that come in a can. They should be safe for the chrome-techs.

I've been using Windex or 409 cleaner to clean the chrometech rims. Works pretty well in removing brake dust and road grease and really brings the shine back out.

Well, the best way that I've found is spray nine and a little gentle scrubbing while the car is good and cool will do the job after winter.
Are the the ChromeTech IIs? If so try the mother's stuff and then some wheel wax/polish.

Thats what I was going to say about using the alloy wheel and chrome wheel cleaners they arent really chrome. The first thing I did when I bought my GA with the chometechs was put a coat of polish and wax on them and they have always just wiped clean for me also......

I don't have the chrome-tech's, so I can't say for certain - but I believe they are plastic-coated, and if that's the case, then a plastic cleaner/polish would probably do the trick.

I use windex, and it works great!!!

Here is another thing. If you go to the grocery store look for GLASS RANGE CLEANER. It is used for those glass stove tops, so it is not abrasive at all. It works just like a wax and it will clean and remove just about anything. I have been using it for cleaning wheels/chrome for years. No scrapes!!

Rubbing compound would work good. I use the Meguires paint cleaner too and that work when there is something that wont come of with a rag
