Dude's i have been driving for the past 10 years in NYC, no problems, ever....
All of a sudden, i forgot how to paraller park, been under-shooting my parking, and sometimes tipping the car behind me....
I feel liek i just got my license... liek an amature, i used to be so good.
has anyone experienced this...
i'm taking my car back out tonight just to practice parking, it's pathetic... lol

I've never done it once....didn't have to do it in my drivers test (I started too...the guy said it was enough and continued), and i've never had an instance where i've had to on the road.

You guys are seriously lucky, in nyc if your back wheel touches the side walk while parking, you automatically fail... lol
i wish i have park lanes, that would be awesome, and the street here in nyc are the worst in the nation... friken NYC, i hate nyc, nyc sucks major ass....

Last summer My neighbor had to help his 16 year old daughter learn the paralel parking thing.
We used our trash toters as cones. Took a good 4 hours and she finally slid that car in between them using only 1 reverse and one forward. I'll admit to not being the smoothest paralel parker.
For demonstration purposes so she could see what paralel parking was it took me 5 trys in my Grand Am,
My neighbor took over 10 trys in his Corsica!

I rule in parallel parking, and backing up into tight spaces.

lol wow... i guess New York isn;t that bad, u knwo what they say tho, the best drivers come from NYC.... Some streets are soo small that barely one car fits in it, and low and behold, it's a 2 way street, and very popular... NYC street are so cluttered it isn't even funn, sometimes while driving people get withing inches of my car, and i have a bat if they hit my car it's on, but man, sometimes new yorkers amaze me...
they also say that 95% of new Yorkers don;t get their licenses until they are 28+ years... reason being because of the clutter and there are nothing but Buses, cabs, and trains all around, no need for a car, but i like my freedon, wen i'm driving i feel i can go whereever i want whenever i want...

You know, I've never had to parallel park, I missed all the days we did it in driver's ed, driver's ed got me out of the road test, and the only places to parallel park are in downtown Tampa, and I never go there. But even then, the spots are so big that you can just slide right in, but I always use a garage or something when I'm down there. In my Altima, I'm sure I can do it, given some of the tight spots I've been in and gotten out of without a scratch with the old girl. With the GA, it may take some learning but I guess I could do it.

heheh~ honest saying... in paralel parking I have the same problem like you~
after driving in Canada for some years, I forgot this skill almost at all... I can't believe how can I finish such a perfect paralel parking in China before... If at that time I can get an A, right now at most I can only get a D and "-". But head-in or back-in I do much much better and faster than before in China. some lost some gained

Heh, I grew up on a farm. For us it was just as long as it's on a spot of grass that isn't being saved it's fine. Only time you parked wrong is if you hit the house or put it in the ditch. Both of which my uncles did many times.

im good at parallel parking. i have my bad days though. everytime i go downtown i have to parallel park. im one of the few i know that knows how though. my fiance can barely park in a regular space  i wouldn't want to ride with her trying to parallel park. i taught my mom how to do it. she can do it it just takes her a little bit. i've heard of people saying they can pull in forward and do it, but im not sure how you'd do that. unless you've got 2 spaces empty. but with only one space empty i have to back in. but i can do one reverse and one forward and usually get it.
im also good at backing up. i dont see how so many people can't do it. put a trailer behind me and i have a little bit harder time, but im ok with it. of course it's 23 ft. long
