Hi, I have a 1988 GA SE Turbo and the original engine blew a head gasket (go figure), well I swapped it with a Turbo drive train from a 1989 Turbo GA SE (same exact engine and everything). After I put it in and hooked everything up, I cranked it and the engine cranks but does not start (it does have spark, fuel is getting to the spark plugs, and the firing order is correct), and also the engine pops like it wants to run but doesn't. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem is and how to fix it? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

my 3.1 Turbo MPFI in my TGP did that, how do u know if has fuel pressure? did u check the shrader valve? if it has alot of pressure like to the hood it squirts, then u have enough, if it dribbles or barley squirts, then u dont have pressure, mine did the same thing, when cranking, i floord the gas, and it put put putted to life and then it died, then i let it sit and it started just fine the next morning

That sounds like a timing issue when it pops or backfires.

If you have the ability, check the compression while you're at it.
