See well.... I fiqure i'll start you off with a "joke" to lighten the mood...
Price for a 2003 Grand Am - $10,000
Price for Window Tinting - $150.00
Price for the front 2 tire balance - $20.00
Price for a new alloy rim - $300.00
Being pissed off at the Department of Transportation - Priceless.
Well yeah... theres a tight traffic circle that has a HIGH amount of potholes..... and the potholes ended up costing me 300 bucks, or else my tires would wear out weird, and i would have to buy new tires alot quicker.. GRRRRR

... if the hole is severe enough, contact DOT and give them your receipt ... it is not uncommon for them to pay for such repairs!

hey.. no way... Town of Sackville, NB, going towards the university from the wendys/tim hortons theres a pothole that is 20 feet (but is frosted up) and its about 6 feet deep..... its a water leak somewhere and one of these nice warm afternoon, some old man is going crap his pants when he relizes he's under ground... hehehehe So far you can probably loose like a.... Firefly/Geo Metro tire in there.... I know this cuz I was installling garage doors for the D.O.T. its crazy.
hahaha,
here they keep trying to repair them, but its too hard to keep up with them after the winter.

I've noticed 2 or 3 really bad spots they fixed though... one was a blind turn and then BANG... even I bottomed out on the shocks.... that was nutty. I thought the world was gonna end cuz during the winter there was a waterline that exploded there, and just stuck a sign, that fell down and never fixed it.... and the other ones they fixed was a bunch on the off-ramp that has no seperate lane to turn on to to slow down for... they fixed that one when they had to of got a bill.... cuz one day i seen a bunch of tire tracks all in the snow around there... lol

Yeah I sent them a estimate for $1700 for my motorcycle wheels and tires and they sent a letter back saying something along the lines of "tough luck".

It's so bad around here that most newspapers have contests for who will find the biggest pothole and they give away free alignments, gas certificates, etc. One city also offers to pay residents 6$ for each pothole they find that can fit a frozen turkey.
One newspaper has a tic-tac-toe grid with pictures of potholes (not saying where they are) and offers 100$ (I think) to the city worker who will first create a straight line by fixing the potholes.
It's all in an effort to get new potholes reported ASAP and fixed whenever :)

i am anti-pot holes as well. who ever invented the pothole should be drug out into the street and shot. HA! man they suck. people like us spend a lot of time, money and care on our cars and most citys are to cheeep to fill in the damn holes lol

I had to replace an entire rim and tire because of a pot hole. I am going to send an angry letter to the town in hopes they will reimburse me.

lmao.... I THINK my bend came from a rail road track..... theres pothole just before the track, and the railroad is barely used.. its only like a museum type thing and it runs like... 2 times a year... But the road goes down cuz you cross a bridge before that.... and my friends 92 dodge spirit WILL bottom out every time if you stay on the right side of the road....

around here the potholes aren't that bad i dont guess.
i dont know about every where else but around here they dont use concrete anymore to build roads it's all asphalt. asphalt is great for a parking lot....but it just doesn't hold up well to traffic. concrete would cost more upfront, but it would be cheaper in the long run.
but it's not the city's fault, but it is too. the city doesn't actually build the roads here. the contract it out, and the contractor is trying to get the job, so they bid it cheap. and when they get it for cheap they're trying to make a big a profit as possible, so they use cheaper materials. the city needs to put a minimum material they can use in the contract somewhere.
and i've seen the city pay for repairs here quit often. they've never paid for anything of mind, but plenty of people i know.
