I don't know what is the best one, but I use Turtle Wax Power Out Carpet Cleaner and it's pretty good.

I just use a concentrated rug and upholstery cleaner. Mix according to directions, and apply using the directions. Vacuum loose dirt first, spray some on. work it in, first with a soft brush, then with a clean rag. Then vacuum it up. Allow to dry, then vacuum once more. Works wonders for me. :)

okay you want to hear. I was in a hurry the other night didn't have time for a long post.

1. vacume out the whole car( I know duh)

2. in a 8 liter bucket( about 2 gallon for our us conterparts) place a little bit of tide and some oxyclean( yes this stuff does work on carpet's)
3. make sure you have a good scrub brush with short hard brisles.
4. make sure you do this on a nice day ( not raining prefeblably on a sunner hot day)
5.you must only do one section at a time. take the scrub brush in the pal of water and drag some solution out. then scrub and scrub. you should have a bit of suds foaming but not to much.
6. now shop vac this stage out
7. know take a hose down the section of the carpet. use your hand to brush the carpet to get all the soap out. don't soak to much. You must also keep shopvac it out. then you continue to the other 3 section. this process takes about 2 to 3 hours. but the result are amazing. I had coffee spilled in the backseat on the carpet. from a trip to calgary. our friend in calgary forgot to mention that he spilled his whole coffe on the floor. when I got back to the Island. I noticed and then came across this process
everythng came out back to new. exept cherry kool- aid will not come out it's actully a dye. Any ? just aske

you actually hose out the carpet in your car? i dunno that i'd want to do that but i might try it on the floor mats. that was my main concern anyway.

yeah I was concerned with that too. but if you only hose down so much as to one area at a time. and shop vac it right away. after you scrub it.

I'm a fan of "Tuff Stuff" too. Just spray it on and get a bucket of warm water and a rag to scrub the carpet with, rinse it off in the bucket and scrub some more. You'd be amazed at the amount of drity water you can get out of carpet that already looks clean.

Along those lines, i like to get it cleaned with a professional carpent cleaning machine. Normally it would cost an arm and a leg, but my dad ownes his own carpet cleaning business and i get to benefit from having the machine at home. It really gets my car clean.

Are you talking about the Rug Doctors? Does the upholstry attachment have spinning brushes? I have a Hoover SteamVac with an uphosltry attachment, but it just has stationary brushes. Did you have any problems with the carpet not fully drying?

I usually rent a rug doctor once or twice a year with the upholstry attachment. I get some friends to pitch in on the cost and we all shampoo our car carpets and seats in one day. They only cost about $30 for 24 hours, so splitting this between 2-3 friends makes it a damn good deal. Can do your house/apartment carpets while you have it, too ;)

ya, thats what im talking about, but you must do it on a hot day. and leave you doors open. but it will be clean like new

The steam cleaner is the only real way to go! Your hands couldn't possibly handle the heat that is involved in steam cleaning! Your local supermarket probably rents em' for around thirty bucks!! Well worth it and they are also avail. with the car cleaning, smaller head attachment!!;)

Shaving cream. It is actually a 'soft soap', and works very well.

Vaccum like everybody said.

Spray shaving cream where it needs to be.

Scrub in with wet brush.

Let sit for a bit.

Dab off with rag or towel.

Vacuum.

Works wonders and is quite cheap.

I removed my salt crust last year with this. It is very good for removing stains & spots. I have gotten tar out of the house carpet with it.

Eyup! It is a very gentle soap. There is air in it under pressure, that's what makes it foam. Otherwise, it is simply soap.

Shaving cream, not gel!

We use it around the house all the time. Works in the cars equally as well.

Sounds like an interesting idea BBT. Maybe get some aftershave for it too, lol then my car will be clean and smell good. :)

We used to use shaving cream to clean desks in school. Plus I like the smell of it.

My parents got a carpet shampoo machine (its a Hoover and looks like a regular vac cleaner) recently and I tried it out on my car. It has lots of attatchments and is easy to use in tight places. I dont smoke in my car or let anyone get in with dirty shoes, but you'd be suprised how much brown stuff came out of all my carpet, seats, and headliner. Even for being a year old car. I'm still a fan of "Tuff Stuff" for general cleaning, but the Hoover with all its attatchments works great!! :)

i use a carpet cleaner , i work at a carpet cleaning place so i get free acess if you ask around you'll probably find one that will let you use there / rent theres. just be carful with the chemicals that can cause very painful chemical burns. if you do use one use the short handle tool. it works really well and leaves my car smelling good :D

It is surprising how well it works, isn't it? I admit I was very skeptical when I first heard of it, but when I tried it, I was really surprised. And it is cheap too!
