Ok, in june, wife and i are going to Atlanta, we're driving there from NYC, but before i do i wanna check some things in my car.
What should i check in my car in preperations for this trip, we have a 99 GA, and it has 85K miles... i recently did a tranny flush, and put in new tranny fluid.
What else should i check out, i don;t wanna get stranded in I95.... ;-)

Check all fluids and the belt. Good tread on the tires and check inflation. Good wiper blades. Make sure all the lamps work.
It wouldn't hurt to get the oil changed. A good time to change it is when the engine is hot from running all day and the gunk that has broken free is still floating in the oil.
Are you driving straight through or stopping overnight?

When he said 'belt' I think he meant the serpentine belt (that runs the alternator, A/C, etc). Make sure it's in good shape. You were probably thinking of the timing belt/chain, and in your case it's a chain. No need to worry. :)

Your going to need a CB radio and a good radar detector, it's a 13 hour drive.

Unplug the radar detector in Virginia, they are illegal.

Before we drive to Daytona every year i give the car a good cleaning. especially the windows. I had it aligned last year when i got 4 new tires, Mann what a difference I noticed in the curves while driving through those twisty hills in West Virginia.
I also prepare a few weeks ahead by pulling off the wheels and check the brakes, oil change, wiper blades, checking all fluids.
Do you have your route mapped out?
If you have tripleA or know someone with it get a map called ""South Eastern States"
My wife is the navagater and i highlight the entire route for her to guide me.
Hope you have a good trip.
