I have an '03 GAGT with the standard 16"rims. I replaced the goodyear tires with Fuzion ZRI's. They seem to have more of an open tread so I won't hydroplane as bad. I was wondering if anyone has ever had these, or what you think of them. I've never heard of the brand before but my tire guy says they're good tires.

hey cool, i have those on my 2001 GA GT with the 16 inch stock rims. i love the tires, they are terrible in the show and really cold temp...very little grip. but otherwise they provide good traction in the rain unless u get them to start spinning, then they never stop. but anyway when it is warm out the traction is incrediable and also i have had them for like 6-8 months and i don't notice much tred wear on my front tires and i drive pretty hard to. i like them.

it's great to hear you love the tires, I think the tread looks cool. Glad to hear about the good wear, one of the reasons I bought them. Kinda dissappointed they don't do well in snow- I'll have to try them out this coming winter- yuck. Are there any tires you can put on the 16" rims that get any grip in the snow? The goodyears I had on this winter did terrible, I was even sliding around on an 1" of snow.

Many people on the board swear by Bridgestone Blizzaks for winter, the Fuzions (actually made by Bridgestone Tires) are fine for the summer, but DONT use them in the winter.
Find 4 15" used (or new!) steel rims that are made for the 1999+ Grand Am, get those Blizzaks I mentioned mounted on them and voila! you will be set year round. That way you can keep your shiny summer rims in good shape and not worry about road salt eating them up, let the ugly steel wheels take the brunt of that.
And you were wondering on your choice of tires...I think you made a great choice. They are creating quite a buzz in the Sport Compact world. Read review here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Fuzion&tireModel=ZRi
Even cheap Wal Mart brand snow tires will work well in winter, if you don't want to spend a lot of money. That's what I have and I am very satisfied with them, although I'm sure Blizzaks or some equivalent type tire would be even better. Getting the steel rims for whatever winter tire you get is a good idea, no matter what.

36 inch BFG mud terrains work great in snow for me
if you can get some on your GA then take pics and post 'em
otherwise go and buy a cheap little old 4wd ranger or s10
you'll get aroung fine

I have the Bridgestone Blizzaks on my car right now.Can they be left on year round? I know they have asoft tread compound.I was just wondering, kinda' like leaving the Xmas decorations up all year!lolI have the Goodyear eagles,on this red car I'm getting a new set of the Blizzaks next week,I cant get around on the Eagles in snow that good Like the ws-50's Blizzaks I had on my 97'Ga.I still have the Blizzak's 4 mounted from my 97' if anyone is interested ,in my area,Make an offer! Sorry Im dealing here in the wrong forum,Mike michael341@webtv.net:D
Yep. Just don't go fast and be prepared to buy new ones come next winter. Seriously, they will wear out very fast.

Is $150 fare for 4 steel rims with tires from junkyard?15 inch legal tread to get through summer

Went to another junkyard, they want $40 each for the 15 inch steel rims,$85 each for aluminum.I'm going to the one that's offering the wheelswith the tires for $150 for allll 4.Then Ill have a set that can be put on without dismount wish I could afford the alloy wheels ,but these damned pottholes, its just as well,

$40 bucks for a steel wheel is way too much. Check out the "for sale" section here and eBay. You should be able to get that set for less since the tires are shot and not many people are looking for winter rims right now. You may be able to pick up a set from someone moving out of the area.
Blizzaks were the best but now there are several other brands just as good. I've worn out a set of Blizzacks (four winters) and switched to Winterforce snow tires. They were about $50 each on the internet.
I recently got a set (4) of new alloy wheels for my "new" 1994 Ciera from eBay for $210 shipped. Look around locally and check the classifieds. Any FWD steel wheel with the right bolt circle should fit.

I never knew Bridgestone made the Fuzion tires. glad to hear the good comments about the Fuzion's. I'll hopefully scrape up enough money to buy a little truck or SUV to drive in the winter so I can park the GA. I hate driving it in all the salt and crazy winter drivers! putting on different rims with cheap tires is a great idea- I'll look into it. Thanks!!

Lindsey, I was wondering if you have a picture of your new tires, cause I was seriously considering getting those exact same ones, the Fuzion Zri 225/50/16. But I didn't know if they were going to look any different then the stock tires.

Too bad you already bought summer tires. If you buy a good set of all season tires for your stock rims, you should be fine all year long.

Good news, I'm buying a Jeep so my GA can enjoy it in the garage this winter, and I won't have to worry about the fuzion tires being crappy in the snow and cold. I'm putting too many miles on anyway.

Yup, she's parked for now. I really miss driving the GA, but it's fun driving the Jeep around in the snow. I did take the car out last week and it couldn't get up the driveway, finally with the petal to the floor we made it up on the 6th try. The fuzion tires are definatly not made for the snow.

I just got a set of Yokohama Avid V4s's for my stock rims. These are all-season. I am very happy with them.

I'll be putting those Yokohama Avid V4s's on mine too the next time I need tires. I've read quite a few good user comments about them.

Finally my RS-A's have worn down so I will probably pick up a set of the Yoko's. I too have heard some really good things about them.

Hi Jesse.. With our New England winters here, I think those Yoko's are a good choice for us. I've read many, many favorable comments on those Yoko's; seems as though they scored highly for all weather conditions whether dry traction, wet, or even snow. As soon as my Dunlop Sport's wear down, I'll be putting those Yoko's on for sure.
Apparently those B.F.Goodrich Traction T/A's scored very highly too. I think either one would serve us well.
Got plastered with snow here today, and now more is coming for Thursday too. Ah, these New England winters......

Ohhhh, nice white GA, Tommy! Can't wait 'til I get my two post mirrors put on mine. My black mirrors are ugly.

Thank you Lindsey! You're gettin' the dual post mirrors? Thiose are cool; I love mine! I just saw those on E-bay somewhere too....a couple of days ago. I forgot who had them though....

Get the Yoko Avid V4's. Had them for a year or so now (and had them on my old car as well once), and still love them. Pretty good all around, comfortable, nicely styled. I'd recommend these. I believe I did on tirerack's review section.

I originally had dual post mirrors, but switched for oval ones. I miss dual posts now. I am gonna get them again.

Yup, seems as though everyone is pleased with their Yoko's. I like the style and tread pattern too. Just curious here.... does anyone put raised white letter tires on any more? Way back in the early 70's, I had the B.F.Goodrich raised whites on both my '74 Firebird Formula 400, and my '78 Trans Am. I don't see them on too many cars these days.... Maybe I'm showin' my age here, lol !!!!!!
Yes, I agree with you on those dual post mirrors; AznGA. They look pretty cool. I did see some on E-bay days ago, but when I did a search for them I couldn't find them; maybe they are already sold...

Raised white letter tires? I am not a fan of them. To me, they only look good on trucks and SUV's.

The white lettering looks awesome with most white cars: for example, a 96 white z26

Got to love winter, but after last year I would never dream of running anything but snow tires in the winter again. I bought some new steelies and some Bridgestone Blizzak Revo 1's. My stock chrometechs are just hanging out in the nice warm basement waiting for those Yoko's to get installed.
As far as snow, we are getting quite a bit here too. Thank god for snow! :P

Oh, good gosh Jesse.. Man, I wish I had a nice warm heated garage for my GT1 !!!! I'd be polishing and waxing it with Meguiar's NXT wax right now, lol...
I heard those Blizzak's are really good too. I run with Dunlop Sport all season's here now, but Yoko's are going on somewhere down the road.

No Dunlop Sports for me ever again. We had them on the GTP, and had them replaced under manufacturer warranty twice for the same problem. The second replacement, the tire shop gave us the option of dealing with them instead and getting a different tire. We had Sp Sport A2's, and I'll never have them again. But I love my Yoko's. :)

Yup, I hear ya'. They were on my car when I bought it last July, so I had no choice. plus, they were brand new too..... they are wearing fine, and seem o.k. at high speeds on the Mass Turnpike, but really don't care for their appearance or tread design.

I have the two post mirrors in the house awating paint and installation. I can't wait. I hate the black oval mirrors. I'll probably get it done this spring. I ordered them off the net. They're suppose to be GM so I hope they will fit.

Aha, that's cool !! I wonder if your car is Pontiac Arctic White like mine ? I think they had a few different shades of white through the years, but I found out that mine is called Arctic White.... That color shines so nice with that Meguiar's NXT wax !

I don't know which shade of white mine is. Where do I look to find out? I used Zanio polish this past year. It shines nice, and lasts a long time. A lot of work, but well worth it.

I'm not sure, Lindsey... But I think there is a stamp on the spare tire cover in the trunk. I didn't look at my cover yet, but I do think it is stamped there.....
The only way I found out mine was called Acrtic White was by someone posting the original 2000 Pontiac Grand Am spec book / brochure that listed all the packages and options. That was how I found out the actual name of my color...

i have the avon tech m550 a/s. they are awsome in the snow/water/ice. i eas going to buy those yoko's. then i had a guy try to sell my the fuzions but i did more research about the tires and i found that the avons were better all-around from other peoples' testimonies. besides that cooper tire had a part in making them.
this is what i bought...
