Hey! My car lately has been driving fine but when I go to put it in park or stop, it idles way up and the engine makes a loud humming noise. However, it doesn't do this everytime I drive it. It seems to do it about every three times or so. Along with this the car seems to get hot. I brought it in two places to check on it. One place said there was nothing wrong that they could find the other said that the fan wasn't kicking on. Little confused...what could this be?

OK, by hot, how hot is it getting? The fans don't cut in until the water temp is quite high.
As for the high idle, do you happen to have a Caspers TPS-Tec installed? If so, remove it and see if that fixes the problem. If not, I'd guess a vacuum leak or a bad throttle position sensor.

It idles about 3000-3500

Yeah, that's pretty damn hign. It should idle around 700-800 RPM when warm (Can't remember the exact #).

I've brought it in a couple of times for this but of course it doesn't do it when they have it. Any suggestions...what to do?

Ok, car starts and runs a 3k, When it is running at 3k it brakes pretty well, infact you wonder why it stops so eays at 3 grand because if you were giving it that much gas it sure as (&^&^ would not stop so easy, when you put it in gear it takes off slowly and runs like it has cruse control, but no real power. And again the brakes work well for that much RPM's.
Ok if that story sound right you have a vac-leak. Too much air is mixing in so the RPM's are high, but no extra gas is going in at the same time so there is no power.
Best way I have found to find Vac-leaks is Carb cleaner. Have the car running and spray a little at a time around vac-hoses along the head gasket. No Need to soak any thing, just a light spray. When the motor starts running ruff, you found the area of the vac-leak. Search that area for broken hoses, backed out screws etc...
Carb spray burns so BE CAREFUL if you decide to try it.
