I Heard That The Jet Module Disables Your Governor....Does Anyone know if thats true??

Yes it is.

To my knowledge, the JET Chip does not disable the speed limiter ... on the ASE Reprogramming will :)

thats what i thought too kelly

IIRC it doesn't disable it but it pushes it back to 255mph or something like that.

If you get your GA to 255mph you deserve a governor :)

Mach1, and NO, the jet Power Control Module does NOT cut out the speed governor, or any other limiters set by the computer. I have one, believe me!

Yup, I had this discussion with Jet, and they state that while there is a power boost, it doesn't disable or circumvent any of the governors or limiters - which for me makes the Module a waste of money.

You're confusing the Jet chip with the ASE reprogram. :) Like the others have said, the Jet chip for the GA doesn't remove the speed govonors. The only solution (so far) is the ASE reprogram, which resets the govonor to an extremely high speed.

i m not sure about the jet chip but ..i know the ASE chip disables the limiter....positive

I guess there is a little confusion in terminology here ... simply stated for all intensive purposes the ASE reprogramming will REMOVE the limiter from your car; however, it actually just RESETS IT to Mach1 :) ... hope that makes matter clearer :)

200BlackGAGT go for the ASE if you want a good set up. I had the Jetchip. It was ok but the ASE is more noticeable and gives you "better bang for the Buck":)

But dont you have to mail in your comp to ASE?

Oops, sorry, my bad...

With the ASE chip you also have to switch to premium gas, right?

It's so cute when you Americans get all concerned about having to buy Premium, when your gas prices are so ridiculously low...

A tank of Premium (or Super) her costs me around 47$ CDN., which I think translates to about 30$ US. So what if you have to use the high-octane fuel? If you want to build up your car's engine, at some point you'll HAVE to use a 92 or 93 octane gasoline.

However, I'm sure that ASE would accomodate a request to limit remapping to allow for a mid-grade. They really are a decent group of people to deal with.

The best way is to get a GT1 Body Control Modual. Since that is where the code is at anyway, instead of patchwork.

What?

I talked to a dealership mech today, the governer is actually in the BCM, when you get your ECM reprogramed with the speed limiter removed it's actually a patch, and you could have problems down the line

What exactly is a BCM? I've never heard of that before.....

Can anyone explain what a Body Control Module is, and where it's located, and what it is exactly that it does?

I've never heard of it being referred to before, and I find it funny that ASE wouldn't know about it either - seeing as how they've been doing ECM reprogramming for GAs for quite a while.

The BCM is "yet another" computer in your car. It functions mainly as its name implies. Body related monitors. Such as; door ajar (seperate inputs for all 4 doors), trunk open, headlamp switch, dome light switch, fuel level, battery, ignition cycles, key in ignition, seat belts, etc...
The reason I found out about this gem is from trying to troubleshoot a flaky "Security" lockout condition. One of the sensors the BCM picks up on is the ignition switch.
As far as I know this module has nothing to do with engine management (ECM). Then again those sneaky engineers at GM may have stashed the speed limiter (governor) in there...

Well, I know a guy locally (so does Kelly) that has the ASE reprogram on a 3400, and he has no problems with his at all, save for a small stumble at about 2400rpm, and it's already been traced to the digital EGR valve - when it's disconnected, everythings fine. And it doesn't always happen, either.

We also know a GM tech, and he has seen and driven around in this car, and has never mentioned any potential problems from having this done.

This is just what one mech told me. Anyway it was for 99+. I was just saying that you could get an error code show up from over riding it, but probably not. Anyway I'll have to replace mine anyway when I install the AWD

I can see the Jet Chip isn't worth it. I almost ordered it but thank god i didn't
