I am going to finally fix my moms Grand Am this weekend. Does anyone know the Torque Specs on the lower intake manifold and rocker arms?? Any specs you have I would love for you to share. Also, does it have any kind of distributor you have to remove, sorry I havent gave it a good look over, I just know you have to take the intakes and both valve covers off along with the pushrods. Any info or how-to pics would help me tremendously!!

Thanks

Chris

This should help you out
go to www.60degreev6.com then click on "pushrod" on the left hand side, click on Specifications, then 3400 specs. It will give you all the torque specs for the engine. I would normaly just post the URL, but when i do it inserts a smily. lol

Remeber when you torque the LIM Go over the bolts twice for the first pass as you torque the other bolts it will pull the LIM down more and you will need to retorque the other bolts.

Make sure you keep the Pushrods in order, the Exhaust pushrods are 6 inches long and the intake are 5.57 if you mix them up you'll bend intake valves.

The Valve layout is as fallows, Exhaust ports facing you E I I E I E Intake ports facing you E I E I I E.
another good habbit to get into is if you dont need to take the rockers off just losen them enought to get the pushrod off so when you go to install you will know that your putting the right pushrod in.

Just do it by feel....lol... make em really snug... if the torque spec is like 30lbs... and you do it to 50, no biggie...
I just did my moms car 3 days ago...lol...
And mine about 4 months ago....
its fun..... that is if its a 95 like mine... my moms is a 97 so the engine bay is SMALLER.... getting the ignition pack mounting off and the sensor under it .. HARd.... even worse putting them back on...lol...

And if you get pissed off at it.. and its a 3400 and wanna get rid of it.... I think I MIGHT be able to take it off your hands.. lol

What year is the car? Check out GM's TSB (Tech Service Bulletin) 03-06-01-010. It contains GM's latest specs for the manifold gasket replacement.
