For those that don't visit the 2 Wheeled section here is a photo of my new toy.

2005 Yamaha R1.
http://www.clubecm.com/r1-005.jpg
http://www.clubecm.com/r1-006.jpg

For those that don't know it's about 430lbs with fuilds and makes 180hp with a tiny little 1000cc four banger.

Is it fast? with a weight to power ratio of about 2.4lbs:1hp and hammering 3rd gear into a wheelie at over 100mphs you can do the math.

:D

Less than two weeks old and here are the mods so far...
Pro-Tek anodized red barends
GYTR anodized red swing arm spindles
GYTR frame sliders
GYTR anodized red oil cap
Removed rear mudflap and tucked license plate
K&S flush mounts for the front (chopped and tinted black)
Progrip carbon fiber look tank protector
High Tech Speed UFO tail light intergrator

Already have custom decals being made to replace the factory ones, and plan on a rear seat cowl, a Puig DB Dark Tinted windscreen, and red angle eyes. Race baffles are ready to install on my next rainy weekend.

More photos are here...

I'll save the term 'Ninja' for Kawasakis. Bad enough people that see a sportbike call all of them 'Ninjas'. lol

My friend and his brother swear it looks like a stealth bomber.

The black 2005 R1s and R6s are known as Ravens since the color is 'Raven Black' per Yamaha. It pisses other R1 and R6 owners off so much I decided to put it on the side of mine. I'll posts photos once it's finished. :D

Yeah I didn't find any domestic bikes that could compair even at twice the price. :D
Slow Down? Never. I've only been to 182mph on it, I sitll have a few more to go until the speedo stops counting. lol

My YZF600R got good milage, about 45-50mpg. This one isn't bad, more like 36-40mpg. But it's about 80hp more, near twice the torque and over twice the fun. :D

I don't know a thing about bikes, but that thing looks fast.... definitly a wild animal :)

I would never be caught going anywhere over 100mph on a motorcycle..... yup.... not my thing :)

It really is pretty amazing how much power they get form such a small engine...

Not talking around the block or top speed runs, just a nice ride out on some back raods on a sunny sunday afternoon?

I know alot of people that say they aren't into bikes but after one ride they become addicted.

Well if your ever in the Albany area you'll know someone with a bike. I don't mind giving free rides to people that want to see what it's like. :)

awesome bike John! Im not real up to when it comes to all the different sport bikes or "crotch rockets" but whats the numbers on your bike vs. the Hyabusa? or is that bike overrated?

TA^Guy

A Hayabusa for it's time was one of the fastest production bikes on the market. But now it's been bumped.

The top three bikes this year is the R1, GSXR, and ZX10 which are all 1000cc bikes.

Superbike magazine just tested 5 of the leading 1000cc bikes and those three were very close. The GSXR put down 158hp to the rear wheel, the R1 155hp and the ZX10 also 155hp.

2004 the R1 was rated Superbike of the year by many magzines fo rit's great all around performance. This year it's noted the GSXR1000 is bike of the year. Not because the R1 did anything wrong, on the contrary it did it all prefectly, but the Suzuki just did it a tad better. That is how Superbike explains it anyhow.

As far as the Hayabusa is concern here it is compaired side to side...

BIKES - - - - Hayabusa - - - - - - - - R1
cc's= - - - - - - 1300 - - - - - - - - - 1000
hp - - - - - - - - 165hp - - - - - - - - 180hp
dry weight - - 478lbs - - - - - - - - 372lbs
1/4 mile - - 9.94@143mph - - - 9.93@147mph

Looks the Busa is a little bit heaveir of a bike then most. I just cant belive that companies are putting 4 pistons in these bikes and the amount of power....Wish I could afford the insurance on one or Id be having some fun:D

TA^Guy

I'd also like to add the 1/4 mile runs are not a accurate way to show a bikes preformance. No matter how much hp a bike has their 60' mark times will be close because you can only launch a bike so hard beofre that front end comes up. Heavier bikes are actually easier to launch, especially low and long ones like the Hayabusa.

Here is a video filmed from the tank of a Hayabusa. This Busa is nearly stock, but the rider also owns a sick turbo'ed one.

Even the Busa owner is saying how the R1 is "the king" of the liter class and that his fellow Suzuki owners were giving him crap about it.

To DL: Go down to the bottom and click on the "FREE" in the LEFT hand column, then click Download: "Episode1"..... it will then prompt a timer how many seconds until it starts downloading
http://rapidshare.de/files/2643638/EpisodeI.wmv.html

About 3 mintues into the video you'll see the roll ons with a ZX10 and R1.

Looks cool, and i'm sure it's fast as hell, but i'm not into "crotch rockets". I want a big, loud, beastly Harley, or maybe a Triumph.

I like chromed out cruisers more than plastic rockets. But it still looks hot.

Night shots are tough with a dark vehicle, espeically when the flash illuminates the reflective decals. But I would never trade them for anything else, Ryan at Grafxwerks.com did a awesome job on them.
