Yeah, it sounds much different. It has a throatier sound than before. I love it, it seems a little quicker too!

ummm thats really cool and everything...but wouldn't it be better if you had cut off the V6 part of the badge?? I think it would look better and it's more unique. But honestly, I love the idea of ram air on a 2.4, if mine was 99+ I might do it too.

how much did that run you? and you should take the V6 part off the ram air emblem

Pics look good.. but.. I'm confused on how that is a "ram air" Where is the air coming in from?

i agree that you need to remove the v6 portion of the badgem, otherwise you fall into my definition of R.I.C.E., although i don think id be able to call it that.

Nice job. I agree, cut the 'V6' part of the emblem off, and you're good to go. :)

I bought the ram air off a member here for $80 shipped.

Well the air is still coming from the fender like it was before, but when the air comes through the grill it is forced into a tube that makes it go directly to the airbox. Behinid the grill it has a deflector that forces it into the tube. If you look on the GAGT with the ram air they have a different grill than the SE. It is open I have a honey comb type, but it still works pretty much the same.

I know I should have cut off the V6 part before I did it but it works for now so I won't mess with it. Maybe sometime this summer I will fix it.

Thanks for all your comments keep 'em coming!

Ram air adds little to no horsepower. Its a gimmick.

It does sound different but for 80 bucks you could have bought a better intake.

It is pretty unique though.

Yes, I already knew that but, I didn't buy it because I wanted to increase my HP. I bought it because I like the way it looks, and its unique. I mean how many 2.4's have you seen with the ram air on it. I know I have only seen 1.

Not as big of a gimmick as people installing WAI and think that they are getting better performance than the stock setup because it sounds tougher.

stock 17.02 with a misfire
16.7 just an intake
intake/catback 16.0... on pep boys glhII tires that are not meant to see a race track

and thats a warm air intake sir, please tell me that my warm air intake isnt helping me at all .... please tell me that...

if your sitting at the light, or a starting line at a race track, and you punch the gas... you are ramming what exactly thru the "ram air" ducts?

and from the way this setup looks you have the ram air flow going into the stock intake tube? thats horrible, its gonna cause a bottle neck and rob performance if anything, honestly, just leave the ram air shroud open so it puts air in the engine bay, that'll help more then the setup you have now.....

i'm confused... what is all this talk about ram air not being a gimmick, i always thought it was, can someone inform me?

mr_eh

it is a gimmick, when ram air first hit the scene on the gto, they said they did it because it looked aggressive and in theory sounded powerfull..... you cant force more air into your engine then it needs

I say it is just pure rice until you fix the badge and cut the V6 off.

well, in therory, if your going like 90mph, u could get like equal to 1 psi with ram air, and for Me_eh, u could have improved your launch, or coulda been cooler temp, coulda been anything, WIA doesnt really do anything, but pull hot air from the engine bay, please tell me how thats helping? compared to the stock air box pulling in cooler air from outside the engine bay? scince the outlet for the tubing is outside the engine. but i belive on W-Body they had a gicantic disscussion about how WIA on a 3100 reduces low end tourque, with would be the same for the 3400, but with the 2.4TC, i would say it might do better, scince they dont have any low end anyway

Maybe I am a little confused by what you mean but the ram air setup I have on my 2.4 is the exact same as it would be if it were on a V6 with the only exception being I had to add a piece so it would reach the airbox. The ram air flow is going into the hole that is cut out of the airbox. Also it is getting air through the wheel well just like any other GA.
