The 98+ F-body and Y-Body had the LS1, along with the 2004 GTO.

Are you asking if the LS1 is a v6? If so, no it is not. The LS1 is a v8 rougly equivilant to a chevy 350. I don't know what that turns into as far as cubic centemetes are converned. 6000 maybe?

$1500 for a car with a busted tranny and motor? thats a rip off! i can get running 87 camaros for $500, granted they will be V6 and probably pretty ratty looking.
and i dont want an average 350 or 383, why im gonna build a Fuel Injected TT 383.

The shortened version of the equation is to multiply the liters by 61.02 this isn't exact for all motors but many manufactures round also. For example Ford and Chevy both have built 5.0 liter V8 but both with different cubic inch displacements.

Just one small detail... the Y-body recieved the LS1 in 1997, a year before the F-body.
Same goes for the LT1, the Corvette received it in 1992 and the F-Body got it in 1993.
